I'm a big fan of Magnaflow units.. they use the exact same technology as AMG(Sebring) and Remus (straight through, perforated core tubes w/ fiberglass packing) but for a fraction of the cost...plus they are stainless where as the AMG bits were made of some of the cheapest steel I've come across:-/

I had a flowmaster put on my M120. It sounded load, obnoxious and generally like ****. Right now the stock SL600 muffler is in place without the resonator. I think it might be there to stay.

I don't like the sound of Flowmasters either..I have one on a 560SEC right now..it's not much to my liking, but it's a track car so I'm not going to fuss over it.. My street cars run Magnaflows which I find have a much more "European" sound in comparison.

Thats good to know. I will need to try something. The stock 129 muffler sounds good but it really doesn't fit into the 107.

Do you recommend 2 mufflers or one? I need to have my exhaust worked on and I was thinking about putting a magnaflow and doing away with the center muffler. I have been wanting a somewhat mean growl without being too loud. Just so I can enjoy the sound of a nice V8 under accelleration.

I have a Magnaflow dual in, dual out muffler on my SEC currently, and it sounds ok, if a bit on the loud side.
That I had it built with 2.5" instead of the ~1.75" stock pipes might have something to do with the volume, as might the current lack of cats and resonators, though...

I'm planning on adding the cats, as I can't see any reason to not have them on any road going car, but haven't gotten them in just yet.

I think your Euro model might have smaller pipes than my American version. I'd like to put a Dynamax on my '87 SEC. What did you pay for yours, Josh?

Borla's IMO are constructed way better than Magnaflow and sound way better. If you get the Borla's get them from here,

http://www.wickednicky.com/

He is the cheapest place that you will find for the borla's. get the Pro XS Mufflers. They are $79 and they sound great. On every application that I have heard they are great. My friends 64 mustang has them and man does it sound good, My friends 3.5 Altima has them and they sound great to. get these and you wont be disappointed.

Thanks, Boom. I haven't seen any tip I liked much. I like the shape of the Remus exhaust tips. Have you seen any like theirs? The ones I've seen looked like a square with the corners slightly rounded. I don't suppose they sell just the tips, do they?

I think it was ~$700 out the door, including the muffler, but it's been a little bit.

If you were only buying a muffler and replacing the rear can, you should be able to source one for ~$100-125 if I remember the pricing correctly. (That is for the dual in and out, rather than one that has single pipes, or dual and single.)

Thanks, Josh. It's too bad they don't have WAV files of their mufflers' sounds like Dynamax does.

are you looking for the dual tip look of the Remus or just the shape of the tip, I can find all kinds of tips on the internet that look like Remus tips but its just one tip not the dual tip.

Yeah, dual. My muffler is two in and two out, so I'd need two of them. Aren't they sold individually? Who makes that shape? besides Remus, I mean.
