There is a ton of info on this for the cosworth.
There is someone on another forum I think mbworld that is selling a mandrel bent turbo header for around 900 dollars. If you keep the boost low, which you will not want to, you can keep the stock injection to start. Then go stand alone injection, custom intake, etc. There is also a fair amount of power to be had with a new intake and stand alone injection by itself. Just depends on where you want to start. Although it is easier to learn to tune on a n/a motor. |

I would say on a completely stock long block you could go for 8-9 lbs of boost on pump gas. I do not remember what the stock compression of that motor was. If you go custom pistons then I have heard of people getting in excess of 400 hp out of it. That head really breathes.

yeah that was one of my questions. the compression problems....i can always fix it with some low compression pistons. good to know i can lay on it a little. im having problems with my idle, on start up mostly, its completly random. i think its the o2 sensor. im gonna redo my intake set up and do the injectors and headers and hope for some good power. the faster i get info on a good turbo setup the faster it gets bought and then its just getting a movie up to show you guys. it will make my drifting vids a lot better considering the massive power gain

Well a 2.3-16 atleast in euro form has a major hurdel for turbo charging, a compression ratio of 10+ to 1. so i say go with a 3 layer steel gasket, to drop compression. keep boost to 0.48 bar and ur stock fuel distributor will cover u, worst case look for a 2.5-16 fuel distributor. Mind u this only a quick fix as ur consumption and AFR will be some what off on part thorottle runs. i suggest for best value yet economy try and do a setup like the one RBYCC has on his M103.
Edit: Just realized, haven't said if its 2.3 or 2.5, any way 2.5 is 9.7 to 1 while 2.3 is 10.5to 1. in any case find a way to drop either down to 9 or 9.2 to 1

Well true. I guess u can drop half a point . Dont know if going any thicker on the gaskit it will remain reliable. Look out pumpish on this forum and drop him a pm.

My turbo e320 has a 1.9mm head spacer on it between the block and head gasket and its compression dropped in the two point range from 10.2:1 into the high 8's.
I have read on 190revolution.net and the rods in your car can stand about 400hp If you want to completely build the motor youll need 8 to 8.7:1 pistons, rods, and arp head and rod bolts which isnt bad at all because the motor is already quite bulletproof. If you built the motor I could see that 2.3 making a lot of power.

Yes, stock rods break a little over the 400hp mark, also I would not got lower than 9.0:1 CR for a street car. Fuel wise if you don't want to go the stand alone ECU route a an additional injector controller is the way to go . There are some very informative threads about turboing the 16v on the 190revolution form
