Hey Mark,

This thread will not be complete without your participation. Thank you for pointing out the new addition to Hatch & Sons inventory, I will keep it in mind. Not a 040, but still a nice color combination. Did your 124.036 made it to Jacksonville? Would love to hear about it.

Mark that is the car I saw on cars.com a few weeks ago for $29K. It was very tempting but I'm just not ready to buy yet. I'm curious what Hatch is asking for it.

Afshin, Hatch & Sons is asking $36K for this one... somehow I am not surprised about their asking price

Thanks Ernesto.

I'm not surprised either and I'm sure it will sell too. I'm ok with Hatch making a profit as long as they stand behind their products and put some money into the cars to improve them mechanically and cosmetically.

Good luck with your search and if I stumble on another I will let you know.

I don't get the chance to check this site much anymore,,,but I still have my 92 500e that won the "One lap of America" luxury sedan class back in 1997.

I've owned the car since, around 1999 but was the tech who maintained it since it was almost new. It's got right at 210k miles on it and runs great as I am meticulous about maintenance.

I currently have 11 cars in my collection, and the 500e will always be a keeper.
I just don't ever see mbz building as high a quality vehicle ever again.

Unhappy SAD

I have a 1994 E500 black over black (made in the last month of E500 production) but the transmission just completely went (actual chunks of gears in the pan) and I need a new one ... if anyone would like to lead me to one i would be much obliged.

Since you're in SC, why not have Jono at BlueRidgeMB in Hotlanta rebuild it for you?

Yes that is the plan... But as always with the 500... Just when you think it's running fine, it dies (or maybe that's just my luck)

Or it could be mine has 215K+ miles (used to be my daily driver until benzie came along)

And the funds is always a problem... Starting to save up now

Just thought I would leave a note. Still have my 92 500E. Just never could part with it. Drive it to work about once a week just to exercise the off ramp near the office. Otherwise it stays under roof. 150K miles, still has a mild idle hunt from time to time (better with accelerator linkage adjustment), and occasional "cold start" racka racka (even after all the replacements of the "usual suspects"...timing chains, etc. etc.) that we all discussed over the last 13 years. I guess she and I will just continue to grow old together.

Tremendously helpful post Gerry.

I joined ********* after being a member of Scott's board.

Have wanted to pull the trigger on a 500E, but the complexity and huge repair costs at this age have made me hesitate. We'll see...

500e

I have had my 9/92 build since 09 &like a few others have said I cant see selling it any time soon. It has its own set of minor issues that are not too hard to figure out eventually. Love driving it a few days a week for exercise.......

Nice one....

on ebay (not mine), but they've photo shopped the heck out of the pictures.

Certainly cheaper than the Hatch car @ $21K....

Found this thread and always lusted after these, but still driving my S class diesel.

I contemplated getting back into a 500E for the past three months and watched the cars coming up for sale on a weekly basis. In the end I couldn't bring myself to buy one because it would need to sit outside year round, get driven in the winter and that would be a shame considering how rare they are. To hold me over until I get a lift in the garage I just picked up an 02 C32. It's on it's way from Seattle now and I should have it in a week. It will be interesting to see how much of a change MB made with AMG.

Hope to bump into some of you New England E500E owners at one of the Larz Anderson events.
