W124 shocks
I own a '92 300 CE and was wondering if any of you guys had any ideas about putting shocks on the car. Not a racer but would like to have a good set of performance shocks without breaking the bank.

Ride quality is like the day I took it off the showroom floor...but push it and it corners flat with no body roll. The Bilstein HD's will give a similar feel to the Sportline shocks. E-Shocks has the full set of HD's for $452.40, shop around and you may find E-Shocks will sell for a bit under $400.00 ! http://www.eshocks.com/bil_veh.asp?Model_Index=4Q73&Manf=Bilstein&SubChar=Q&Spec=

Coilover lowering springs are horrible! Whatever you do don't waist your money!! They will give you the worst ride you could imagine! Tokico Performance struts will be the best for your money, don't go cheap. Putting coilovers on your car is about as bad as cutting your springs!

You need to not just read but comprehend before you post a comment !!! My post stated "H&R Sport lowering springs" which are a progressively wound coil spring which gives a result similar to a AMG tuned suspension. As far as struts and shocks on the 124, I would stay with the Bilsteins which again are specifically tuned for the 124. As far as "going cheap", a more then adequate suspension for a 124 can be had for around $1k in struts, shocks, springs and swaybars, less installation labor. Anything more and it's overkill. It works for me and I put down much, much more power then the average 124 ! P.S. Did you know that the early AMG 124 Hammers ran on springs with "cut coils".... Very common in the late eighties as no aftermarket springs existed and the cost of manufacturing in essence "one off" lowering springs by AMG was cost prohibitive.

You got those swaybars, shocks/struts, and springs for less than a G-note? Tell me where! The Fastlane Sportline kit is more like 2 Gs, and I think the only major difference is they also add in some bushings.

I am running 500E bars on my W124. I am also running Sportline Springs, and its a good combo.
