I have found Mercedes to be pretty damn good compared to Jag's.

Mercedes are pretty reliable as high end cars go.

I wouldn't expect any V12 to be reliable. I'm betting it's durable as all hell and will last a long time.

Whatever you do, stay away from the M137 V12's. STAY AWAY!

I noticed you were on dragtimes John, I was poking around to see who had the fastest pre 1991 MB there. I'll have to get mine up there at some point, I believe my 500SEC is a good contender for the top slot. My best 1/4mi at tri-o-rama two months ago was a 14.475 but since theres no slip I guess that doesnt qualify for that site.

The 600SL badge is plain awesomness, but two words.... euro lights

That's pretty impressive. I wonder how much gas mileage he gets on the road. I used to blow off diesels in this country, probably because I grew up with 240 and 300D's being the standard by which all diesels were judged. But after renting a new one in Germany I was really impressed. They have come along way.

Also Dragtimes .com is the honor system. They never required me to submit a time slip. But then maybe they would have been knocking at my door if I said I had a 560SL that did 11.5's. In any case it doesn't seem to be a big MB sight. I havent looked in a few years but my 560SL one 560SEC and one 560SEL were the only entries in the 560 class at the time

Also Whats wrong with a 137. Is it an inherently poor design. Or is it that they are pushing it to hard for a production engine with twin turbos on a V12 at 600 RWHP. Would the M120 at 600HP be a better solution?

The M137 is the 2000-2002 V12. The M275 was the redesign of it with twin turbos, much better engine.

Yeah thats about what I expected from that E300D. Kick ass car!

It doesn't take much to put an already fast car into the 11's, but putting a slow car into the 11's is something.

My work neighbor (Russian mafia) has an '01 S600. He's had a lot of niggling electronic issues. I think the car has 80k miles. Oh yeah, he had to re-do the front end and had some motor issues-- coilpacks? Don't recall. It wasn't cheap to fix of course.

I'll never forget the oil leak on my (I say my because I'm married to it) 2001 S600. It was the oil cooler.

Which is in the V of the block.

Which the bolts for it are UNDER the edge of the cylinder heads.
