out with the old engine and in with the new

out with the old

suspected broken ring land, from running too lean.

In with the new, complete with new painted rocker cover and larger 440cc injectors :-)
oh and a new heavy duty clutch,

turbo m104 c280

Good luck to you. What are you doing with the old engine. Also I could use a favor. Id like to know the distance between the center of the crank and the top of the valve cover.

i think that i may have either cracked a ring land, the reason i said this is because its a common failure from what happened, from mates i have talked to, or maby fried some rings,
the front 3 cylinders were down on compression and compared to the back three, it wouldnt like starting, i think because of 2 reasons, the lower compression makes startup harder for an engine, and a bit of oil seeping thru thru into the chamber and fouling a plug, and because of wasted spark setup the spark goes to the easiest ignition point and thus this would kill two cylinders, as there is only three coil packs doinging two cylinders each.

i also run these little straight to atmosphere filters on the top of my rocker cover in those vent holes, and the engine would breath heavily out of these and stink like hell, compared to when i first turboed it,

i beleive all my trouble come from when i was having a few drags with my mates, one had a evo 7 and we had a long 200k+ drag and my car was running far to lean, up to 13.5-14:1, i should have let off but was like stuff it i havent had any trouble yet...(haha) and i already had my spare engine at that stage.
and that basically killed my engine in one go, that melted 3 of my sparkplugs to bits, and yea, i learnt my leason plus about a 3 week engine change as a punishment.

blow by at idle too

but it wasnt all bad i needed a new heavy duty clutch aswell because past 8pounds it would just let go once the torque came on at about 3500rpm, so im having my pressure plate resprung with heavy springs aswell as a sprung clutch disc to suit my lw single mass flywheel, the clutch and flywheel is at the clutch shop at the moment hope to have it back next week.

roncallo
i will probebly pull my old engine to bits and use all the bolts for spares in my bolts colection, i will try and measure that next time i am at my car.

side note, not all m104 engines are created equally, the new one i got was also out of a 94 c280 like my own but didnt have piston oil squirters or a oil/water housing cooler
i had to change these over from my old engine
grrr
