Question vibration 500E

Hi,

I've got a vibration in my car .
It seems to come from the engine , If the engine is running idle sometimes a shock gets trough the car.
when I raise the revs there is a kind of vibration going trough the car(It makes no difference if i;m driving or standing still)

Does anybody know what my problem could be ??

Thanks!

Roald

To do a tranny service, you need to loosten & move part of the exhaust system. Perhaps when it was re-installed it is touching a part of the chassis? Make sure the exhaust has proper clearance its entire length.

How old are your motor & tranny mounts? They do wear out and fail, what with the power they're trying to keep in check

Thanks Michael,

I dont think it has anything to do with the exhaust it more feels like that the engine is not running well.

maybe the engine mounts are not ok I take a look at that but it more feels like the engine is misfiring.

The car was in for service last week and they put some cleaner in the tank to clean the feul-injectors.
after they did that my problem got worse.
I think I gonna go back next week to my MB-dealer to check it out.

maybe someone nows what my problem is?(I am not very happy)

thanks!

Roald

Roald-

Do check the exhaust clearance-I was quite surprised by the problems this slight misalignment can cause

Roald: My car (E320) was doing exactly the same
thing and after I changed the motor mounts the vibration went away. I don´t know if your problem is the same, but take a look anyway.
Hope it helps,

Regards , ED

my 500e does the same thing occasionally, particularly when cold. My motor mounts were replaced 3/00, but I haven't checked recently. Please let me know what you find.

Carbon buildup

Rjfjr-

Maybe you have carbon buildup? When your car's cold, carbon will mess with your rich(because the car's cold)fuel-air ratio and make it lean...as I understand it, it absorbs the fuel like a sponge. My car did the same thing-several treatments of BG 44K took care of it (hard to find, but worth it).

Oh, and did I mention that I paid $$$$$$ to a dealer to come up with this diagnosis? My car was chauffeur-driven for 4-5 years before I got it, so apparently the guy didn't have a very heavy foot and the carbon began to build. And assuredly my heavy (like, depleted uranium heavy) foot couldn't get the carbon out.
