man, look for www.powerchip.com.au; those have a chip that gets u to abt 205 hp IIRC.
Any way look at the performance of the engine in several of my vids and ull see how quickly the engine revs to over redline. And i did state that i have a non stock exhaust front to back and engine is tip top shape and CIS always cared for, those affect the performance alot, add to that i always install the best sparks from BOSCH and always change them before they wear out.

Any way HP figures mean nothing, it’s the way the car performs in the end, I do have a dyno proof at 203 or 204 HP, but I did enhance that after the dyno runs, any way 210 is what I expected it to be giving.

Then I use light weight rims I mean I had 15in SLK rims weighing in at 9 LB each, and that helps in the HP to the wheels a lot.
There is much use in me claiming any power I didn’t have, and I have posted several vids of my car, and it shows it was no sloth
CIS Mercs have alot of power hidden in them as they were tuned for economy, i have a dyno for my old w123 m110 280 ce 1981 at 200hp, and thats with no ECU, just propper tune and setup of the CIS

Again I say check the powerchips site:
try www.powerchipgroup.com/
Or www.powerchip.com.au

Awesome. Just gotta be skeptical on alot of stuff these days ya know?
I just remembered hearing somewhere that the chipped ECU's for the w124's did not net any HP. Guess that was wrong!

Well my car was a slow W124, where as our older 1987 300 TE had more punch. I hated the car when we first got it for feeling lazy and slow. Then i drove a 2.5-16 w201 with a chipped ecu and i was stunned at the power diff, not just with my car but the diff from regular 2.5-16s. so i asked my mechanic to modd mine. i have to say the 2.5-16 has more potential in it meaning that it improved more than what my car did improve.

But i used to wait for other w124 E300s to kick down and start pulling and then i'll floor it and i would still pass them. the car was alot faster than your avg m103, and sounded sharp too,

are you saying that an ECU chip upgrade is available for the M103?
As far as i know that may be hard to exist since the M103 got a manual jetronic injection and a manual distributor ( i mean by manual that it functions manually with no need of electricity ).
I mean since there is no electric part responsible of how much fuel is being injected...how does the chip work? Is it about the cold start option?

Man both injection and ignition have control ecus and generate a map based on several input sensors. any way no matter what, my car was more powerful after it was modded and any one driving it could tell.

now i promised to attach a document from powerchip that details their chip functions and includes a dyno graph, so when i get home ill post it.

Interested in what you can provide.

The KE-Jetronic III controller works solely on a signal to the EHA and the ignition is controlled by a resistance setting in the EZL.

Not aware that either unit can be reprogrammed and curious to where you would install the performance enhancement device ?

All that I am aware of is a device that alters the signal to the EHA that was designed for VW's...it interfaces with the CIS-E controller.

Thanks

Ed

i would be interrested seing that too, all that i know about this subject that some regulator with specific part numbers combined with a certain EHA will get some more fuel flow into injectors...i didnt know that it is controlled by something else too

Jay, Thanks !

Interesting...I'm reading on page 4 that the Powerchip modifies the ignition timing on part and full power.
This means it is modifying the EZL with no mention of changing fuel delivery.
The Euro cars already have an adjustment plug to modify timing and other cars have a fixed resistor.
In the USA you can remove the fixed R16 resistor and pull about 6 degree advance.

What concerns me is how they arrive at the power increase.
The supplied charts are not from a dyno as they indicate stock published BHP.
After the Powerchip install they somehow estimated a 10% increase in power.

More believable with a baseline dyno to indicate RWP and then a run after the Powerchip install.

I can't see 10% by timing alone.

i know that timing advance would give some more push to the car, that what ppl can do on a W123, but i dont know how much is that effective.
Jay have you modded your ecu on same basis of this pdf? i bet it didnt cost you 990$
and as u said before, those guys arent producing those chips anymore...wondering why

Ok I agree whit all what u say, and as I said my car moded in an other way. I have to knobs that I turn to adjust timing and fuel enrichment. Now the best set up on my car was with a little more fuel and a lot more timing advance, I had the R-16 on max setting and from there on I would advance more.
Now I think powerchip did the same, so it can be just a set of fixed resistance values that would offset timing and fuel in the same way mine was done. Powerchip did mention that the ecu had to be given to their technician to have it moded.

any way I know for a fact that it did improve the car’s performance. In the end its proly something any one who has good knowledge of how those cars work can do, with similar results.

and no it didnt cost me 990 Ausd but more like 400 + usd thou who did it used to charge a bit more for it.
i am not trying to claim anything here, just that my car was faster than ur stock w124 M103, and again check the several vids i had back then

i would say my W124 was close to yours from 0 to 140 when it had the 2.65 differential. But with the 3.07 one im way slower.
Anyways i dont want to talk about things that i dont really understand but your car was really fast. All i know that timing advance would help to get some more push...how much, how fast, how to do it....i have no idea.
you are the experts and im learning

chlippo you meant to say when you had the 3.69 diff. Which is very believable a short diff works wonders up to a point. My vids are with a 3.07 and 205/60 15'
