No, and no. :-P
You can adjust your initial timing so you have more advance (3 degrees/as they come from the factory) is deplorable. W/ the R16 removed you will see around 12-16.. Do a search, there is a quite a bit of info on this resistor. Jonathan

I did here of one by a company called Jet. But every review I read said it did nothing.
