Twin turbo setup question
In a twin turbo setup like the mosselman or the TT setup, can one turbo be set to boost more the other??
say turbo one boosts at 1X psi and the second is set to boost at 1.3X psi. would the extra boost from the second generate enough back force on the first turbo in a way the exhausts have almost equal pressure.????

I don't recall the Mosselmann, but TurboTechnics has two cast manifolds with each turbo spinning from three cylinders. The exhaust is a true dual and doesn't meet until it reaches the rear silencer. No advantage doing this with the TT setup and more then likely a disadvantage. Three cylinders would reach max boost prior to the other three. Ed

Yes in the Mossel sys u have 2 cast manifolds, but both turbos boost into the same intercooler, thus all six pistons get the same boost. Its on the exhaust side that i have my worry, since one turbo has a waste gate more open than the other turbo it will cause less exhaust back pressure but also less boost.
but since both turbos need to boost in the same intercooler i assume that the turbo boosting less will need to work harder to push its air volume against what the second turbo is boosting. This should cause the first turbo (less resistance / less boost one) to now cause more exhaust back pressure on its three pistons despite having the waste gate open more than the other one. That’s my assumption but as they say; assumption is the mother of all f@#$ups

i have a question abt ur setup, say after driving for a whie on a warm day then turn off the engine for say 30min. when u set off again do u find the car boosting less??? mine dops from abt 0.55 to abt 0.45 and hot days even down to 0.4 bar, after a while boost goes back to normal. do u have a similar issue?? thnx

Never noticed... Have you checked for leaks around any of the boost piping joints? Possibly loosens up with thermal change? Just an idea !

I was wondering what the point of trying to run the turbos out of phase would be. Are you trying to run a sequential setup? The problems are as stated that the balance would be wrong and yes you would only have the lowest boost setting without a reed plate to stop back flow. The turbo setup at lower boost would keep opening as the second turbo increased boost above the first's setting.
As far as your low boost problem you may be experiencing heat soak causing the boost pressure to be low until things cool down a little. |

As for the boost drop its seems more like heat soak as u said, but i will also take Ed's advise and recheck for leaks as well. most probbanly i might have a leak where the top mount IC meets with the CIS case.
