2.3 16 catalytic converters

I acquired a new 2.3 16, and I've got engine in decent shape so far. I'm looking at doing the exhaust, and maybe cutting out the cats. I've heard this is best performance mod on this car. Any suggestions? Also, if i take the cat out, is it worth getting rid of the pre cats as well??

I've also removed the r16 resistor, and that with the cat removal is supposed to be insane! Any info appreciated!

I would remove or gut out the precats.
I wouldn't take the cat out completely, but replace the stock unit with a Magnaflow spun metal cat.
Not expensive, about $100.00 and a knockoff of the Random Technology design.
Very high flowing and maintains the stock spec on the engine/exhaust for emissions purposes.

The nice thing about living in Canada is we dont have to worry about emissions here at all. So removing the cats completely will not ba an issue!

It wont be an issue except that you and a couple other billion people still need to breathe on this planet. The cats are on the car for a reason and it's not to hold back 100hp. If you really feel that the cats are an issue replace them with a good high flow unit like mentioned above. This isn't the early seventies and catalysts are not the demons they have been portrayed as in years past. Unless you highly modify your engine I doubt that you'd notice a usable power increase deleting them. You will notice a substantial increase in emission of CO and H/C. If drag cars can run in the nines with cats, why does your 15 second street car need to be a gross polluter to still be a 15 sec car?
