Track event
This is for both street and racing cars so you can stretch out anything you bring. This is an event put on by SpeedTrialUSA and will be at Virginia International Raceway on Dec 8/9, 2001.
The track has been there for eons but was closed for about 25 years and reopened last year with a load of money poured in to bring this up to a great facility. There are two courses and this event combines both into a 3.27 mile roadcourse. Cost for this event is $150/ one day or $275/ two days which is very fair for the use of this track. I'm planning on going and wondering if there are any others from the East coast that would be interested. The weather should be good and the cars running cool...at their optimum! This will be the last chance to run them hard before the long winter and bench racing sets in. Info can be seen at SpeedTrialUSA.com or on the DrivingEvents.com site. Any interested parties out there? Tobias MB 4 MBs |

Please post a link to registration info, tech requirements, driver experience needed, etc. I am very interested in driving the VIR course but would prefer one of the shorter configurations. A mile plus back stretch is LONG. I watched the vintage cars run last weekend, what a GREAT facility.

Jim,
All the questions you need answers for can be found at the website of the sponsoring organization: www.speedtrialusa.com. This is not a race so you can go at the pace you feel comfortable with. Entry requirements, licensing, safety, fees, tech, etc are all on their website. Take a look. And if this event doesn't appeal you can also take a look at: [url]www.drivingevents.com for others to attend. Come on out and let's get some MBs running. TobiasMB C280Sport, 300CE, 400E, 190/5.6 |

I have read about VIR- sounds like a great place. I am signing up for sat only- I hope there is no snow in CT- because if there is, the car stays in the garage!

MORE NEWS of VIR
ACTACK,
Glad to hear you'll come down if there is no snow in CT. Don't have any control over that so just have to hope the weather is nice and clear. Just spoke with some friends who were at a SCCA drivers school at VIR this past weekend. They brought news that shortly VIR is planning to connect the separating roads that make up the North and South course, sort of a large U. This plan will then make VIR the longest road course in North America. The name will be something like the Grand Prix circuit. Any other takers for a fun day at a great track at a good price? Come on out... Tobias MB 190/5.6 |

Make plans now...
Come on and enjoy driving your Benz the way it was meant to be, well almost, but it is comfortable and secure on the track at speed.
The weather in the south has been balmy as most of the East has been, with temperatures close to the 70s. Expect it to be a little cooler at VIR on 12/8 but then it's more comfortable and the cars run stronger. We've got some others promising to go but how about a bunch more. The facility is one of the best in the country with a great track layout. Give yourself an early Christmas present before the snow comes! Tobias MB 4MBs |
