The M120 had COP's and two ECU's so I guess it only fired six times every 360 degrees but it was because it was COP and not wasted spark.
95 and earlier did not have COP. They had two distributors on the cams. They had 2 separate ELZ's.

Oh yea I forgot about the 95 and older 600's having dizzys. I have an 02 M120 so it's COP like yours.

I just found out MS1 with the MS1 Extra stuff can run dual EDIS modules with 6 ignition points(3 for each) so I am going to use that. I'm not electronically adept enough to be the first guy with a V12 running COPs on MS3. Plenty I've found out have done MS1 on V12's so I'm going that route.

There is actually only one reason to fight for COP. IT LOOKS COOL.

Thats basically what I'm running on my M102. MS1 extra with HR code and single ford EDIS. I didn't know you could run 3 EDIS modules off of it. Good stuff.

It's two EDIS modules and up to 3 ignition points for each so you can have a combined 6 igntion points which is enough to fire a V12 in wasted spark mode .

While I've learned all this information on the msefi and msextra forums and manuals I actually know little about the assembly of an MS1 with the extra software. Is extra hardware required on the board and if so what and where?

I'm wondering about using 2 Motec Ignition Extender's with 4 Volvo coil drivers to run the COP on the M120

Yes there are some modifications that need to be done to the MS1 board to run EDIS but they are very minor. I just did the modifications on my board and it took about an hour. You need to be handy with a soldering iron and replaces a few wires and resistors.
http://www.msextra.com/doc/ms1extra/MS_Extra_Ignition_Hardware_Manual.htm#edisint
Scroll down to V2.2.

we have established that the 120 has paired pistons like the 103/104. does anyone know if each of the pairs come to tdc seperatly, or if one pair from the left bank is at tdc at the same time as one pair from the right bank?

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

All straight sixes are paired as far as I know. All V12s are also paired per side as far as I know. For a V12 to have 4 up at TDC would require a 120° V or separate journals for each cylinder. Since all V12's I'm aware of are 60° with journals paired, that is physically not possible for any V12 I know of including the Mercedes M120.

the MS2 will do V6 two stroke or V12 four stroke on just one sensor tooth wheel

I`m doing this right now

Hi Guys,

Longtime reader....first time poster (newly registered)

I was so happy to see this post......I`m doing this.

Yes this will work with MS2 extra, 12 Cylinder wasted spark using 2xFord v6 coilpacks (or vaxuhall i think).

I have just ordered a MS2 for this very application for my Kit car.....yes you read correct? How do you post pics? Its currently in powder coat but I have some old pics.

I`m using a single TDC sensor in combination with the standard 60-2 ring gear and a wideband sensor Custom downpipes linked via a AFR balance pipe, 80mm universal throttle bodies (i know its a big step up from 70). I have ditched the auto box and I have machined a flywheel to mount onto the crank of the M120, all fits very nicely via a bell housing spacer and cosworth clutch. The gear box is a Ford T5

I have uploaded the files into my gallery.

Cool Project

Send us details and more pictures especially of the bell housing and gearbox install.

Why a T5? IMO the torque from the M120 will smoke that T5.
