Would you Buy a Kleemann Kit for your W124?
OK,
This is strictly to see how many Speed Junkies we have on this board. With enough response.... who knows, maybe they will react in a positive way buy offering Supercharger kits for the 400E and 500E/E500 cars out there! ;) This Poll would specifically INCLUDE Mercedes models going back as far as the W124 line, ie the 300E, 400E, and 500E. Presently Kleemann is in the US with their Dealer locater in Colorado Springs, CO and they do not offer any listed products for the W124 lineup engines. This is their site, http://www.kleemann.dk/ All responses welcome! :) |
I think that Autowerks Express in San Diego and Steckman Bros, in LA are certified to install Kleemann Superchargers.

Do they have a system for 124 chassis 500e's?????
If so, how much boost & how many dollars? |
I would put one on my 300E if they offered it in this country. Instead, I am going to wait and see how Glen's supercharging project turns out and what the dyno results are. Then maybe a parts list?:D

Looking at the Kleeman supercharger with built-in intercooler at the EuroTuner Fest at Willow Springs, I would say that mechanically adapting the supercharger to work with a V8 such as the M119 engine (400E, 500E, 500SL) is much easier than any of the inline sixes (M103, M104).
Unfortunately, I don't know how easy it is to adjust the Bosch LH ECU to accept a supercharger. If it's reasonable (under $5K) as a kit, I would consider it for our 500E. Supposedly there is a 6.0L M119 engine available NEW from MB and it is only $10K. :-) neil 1988 360TE AMG 1993 500E |
I never considered the AMG 6.0 engine as a $10K power adder, but it makes the best sense. If you are comparing a brand new 6 liter (with warranty) to a supercharger from Kleemann/Koenig ($13k) or even a Bore via Renntech ($18k) the AMG wins.
Neil, can you maybe dig up some more details for that 6.0 liter AMG engine? Part number? Horsepower is around 380'ish right? |
Satish is the man with the 6.0L M119 engine info.
How about Satish? :-) neil |
