I have a 1986 190E 2.3 and i am interested in changing my transmission the the 5 speed getrag tranny. Has anyone done this conversion? Is it a hard conversion? Is it expensive?

Try search as this topic has been discussed several times.
Also if you do find a Getrag 5-speed from a 16V & install it you will have the same RPM problem on the highway as the auto trans does.
The 5-speed trans from a regular 190E does have an overdrive 5th gear.
As always you will need a donor car to get all of the needed parts.

I want to go from my automatic to manual transmission and that was the issue.
