New MB S500 W140 1993 Owner - looking for ECU Performance Chip

Good day to all,

I am a new 500SEL 1993 5.0L W140 onwer, I purchased this car since 6 months, I noticed after full general maintenance that I have a low performance, low acceleration between 1000-3000 RPM. So I am planning for ECU, especially I want to use Octane 91 instead of 95 and the ECU performance chip will tune that for you.

The follwoing Auction on ebay offer many ECU chips for MB:

what do you think about this? it is for $49 USD only !!!

your urgent replay is highly appreciated.

Regards,

I deleted my cats, talk about raw power.Clean your Maf, or air sensor in intake behind filter.CRC cleaner.I trust the company that you send your ECU,then they program it,and remove govenor.

Those chips do actually work but have to be soldered into the ECU which isn't hard but it's not for the faint of heart. The dyno graph they display is blatantly fake lol. I believe this is a direct copy of a Renntech or PowerChip tune that was available in the early 90's.

There is a really old thread in here somewhere with a 500sel or 500e owner commenting on the gains he saw from adding the chip. He liked the difference he felt if I remember right. Problem is that chip will NEED the engine to use at least 93(R+M/2) octane fuel to avoid detonation.

I know this post is over a decade old, but I wanted to clarify some incorrect information posted above. Also, eBay has removed all "performance" items that modify engine computer programming: chips, "tunes", or anything similar - all gone from eBay. That said:
  • All LH-SFI EPROM chips are socketed, not soldered. It was the ME ECU's, and possibly some late HFM, that are soldered.
  • If the car has poor performance as the OP described, a chip WILL NOT HELP. Not even a little. Total waste of money. You must diagnose and fix the problem.
  • Higher octane is not required, not necessary, and offers zero benefit. Just use the minimum 91 octane (R+M/2 method) in USA, as required on most all Mercedes gas engines. You can choose to pay more for 93+ octane but there is no power gained. The EPROM only controls fuel delivery, not ignition/timing advance. It's not possible to increase timing advance (which would require higher octane fuel). Want the best fuel? Only use TopTier gas (click here).

Anyone who wants to buy a performance chip for the 5.0L M119 V8 engine with LH-SFI, click here.

Any chance you could modify an HFM C36 EEPROM for higher redline? Thx Hondawasaki.

No, sorry... I only deal with M119 + LH.

:(
