ideas for an 89 300SEL?
 

Hey guys, i'm currently looking for suggestions on my 1989 300SEL, from systems to lights to anything! It's currently pretty much all factory. My only addition to it is my laptop which i place on my passenger seat when i ride alone, use a car kit, and play some mp3z, also got a GPS receiver to hook up to the laptop to navigate my always lost self. I was looking in to a mount like the police cars have for laptops, anyone know of good ones or suggestions? :)

(yes the passenger side headlight wiper is messed up :( if you know a solution I started a post about it in the tech section!)

Hi hedpe, my car is a 126 so everything I have done so far could be done to your 300SEL.

I have fitted the AMG wheels, had the window's mildly tinted, blacked the grill, fitted clear turn signals, and had a custom exhaust made.

hedpe- get some euro lights! they make a HUGE difference in looks and function. bosch or hella only [is my opinion] they were oem parts.
the clear turn signal covers look nice but, that's a matter of prefernce.
maybe find some oem wheels. 8 hole alloys are nice and "seem" to fit the w126 looks.
the wheels that mattman has are VERY righteous looking also.

mattman- very sweet ride!

you can change those amber side indicators to clear cover w amber bulbs if you would ever want to.

where could i order the headlights?

hedpe- do a "search"of my posts here at mb shop. i have listed the places i'm aware of several times.

also search the classifieds here at mercedes shop.
it seems to me someone here recently is selling some for a w126 model. i was thinking about buying them myself, but have changed my mind.

check out e-bay. look under "mercedes parts", "bosch","hella", and "w126"

if you buy some used ones, you can always replace the "lenses" if they're bad.

let me know what you find. shop, shop, shop for these to get the most for your money.

Hi peter, they have square corners and edges with a raised area in the middle. They look closest to the amber one you have shown.

hedpe- check out e-bay under"bosch". there are 2 sets there right now. one the bid is $200.00 the other the bid is $300.00 that is for the pair.

mattman- is your car right hand drive?

mattman- it's a long story. eventually i'm going to have these installed on my 300e.

these came from the netherlands. you can get them from your local dealer. if they can't or won't help you. i have a source in great britain.

mb part # 202 820 15 21 you may be able to just get the covers.

probably about $20.00 u.s. each.

i want you to post another picture when you get them!!!

Thanks Peter, I just did a quick check in PartsShop and they are listed for US $28 each, are these the entire assemblies? There was no picture shown so I couldn't verify that they were clear, what model are these off?

the markers are from the very early c-class. 94 or 95, they were later changed. i like this profile best.

the numbers off the box are for the entire assembly. you might be able to just buy the covers, i'd check at your local dealer.
