E500 Limited Spec's
Does anyone have the specifications for the E500 Limited?
My recent project idea has been to identify the components necessary to upgrade my 94 E500 (US version) to match up. If all of the discussion here is correct then besides the EVO II's I have on order an oil cooler, transmission cooler, and shorter Euro springs are probably in order. There has been a lot of generalities written but I cannot seem to locate any literature or exact facts on the cars spec's. Perhaps a European auto review, product literature, someone who owns one might be a good lead. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Steve

There are shorter springs for a 500E from the factory? Different springs/struts too? Or is it the AMG/HWA package revbond ran?

The E500 Limited is the ULTIMATE factory W124!!! They had the Lower Body panels and Bumpers painted to match in gloss, like the Newer Mercedes models. In your case Monotoned Silver. If you really want to be authentic...
Monotned Body Panels "LIMITED" Script badge Trunk to Euro Model Clear Bosch indicator lenses Clear side Fender indicator lamps Light switch to one with vacum light adjustment Transmission switch S/W selector Euro driver lower dash panel. Euro Instrument Panel Remove all Power Luxury items... Good Luck! |

From http://members.tripod.lycos.nl/Mercedes500E/pagestart.html
"In 1994 the last change to the E500 was made. A special edition of the E500 was exclusively build for the Switzern market. It was the E500 LIMITED. The car was available in 'Saphirschwartz' or 'Briljantsilber' only. The side-panels on the 'Saphirschwartz' cars were in that color aswell. It stood on 17-inch 6-spoke 'DTM' alloys with 245/45 tires on them. The production-number was limited to 500 cars."

Thanks all - keep it coming.
FA22 - thanks for these important "small" details. Besides the cosmetics, do you have any insight on the mechanical differences? Michael - I thought the springs would likely be shorter also, any thoughts on how we could verify this? John - I've got the rims and tires, even the "Briljantsilber> Any idea's on where one could get factory literature on this - even if it is in German? Look forward to the thoughts, I am not giving up on this one easily!!

You can check out some pics of Fabio's E500 Ltd on my website in the Mercedesshop Gallery. Note the special interior upholstery. The Ltd also had special Evolution II wheels that are still available from MB dealers for other W124 cars.

Got the EVO II's.
Just ordered a German EPC CD that is supposed to have the parts list for the car. If I can get a US version of the same CD I might try to compare the two and identify the differences by part number. If it works I'll of course share with everyone.

I've just been to a Coys auction in London where there was an E500 LTD on sale. I had a careful look and apart from the different interior fabric, different wheels and a different windscreen cleaning fluid container - the engine looked the same like mine E500.
I took pictures of most of the interior: http://www.motorsnippets.com/cars/coys_december_2001/Mercedes_E500_LTD1_147a.asp There are two pages! Regards Martin www.motorsnippets.com 1993 Mercedes E500 1972 Mercedes 280SE 3.5 (manual) |

Thanks for the helpful pictures. I know that the wheels are "wrong" as every spec I have ever seen has the car equipped with the EVO II's. The interior is great looking, and I noticed the W/S switch for the tranny and the different climate control unit. Were these all the pic's you took? Steve

That is one NASTY interior. Is that straight out of the Porsche parts bin, too?

I agree , those door panel inserts are dog ugly. It also looks as though the a/c vent controls were taken from a late model VW or Audi.

Well, I was going to say the same and thank God that I've got a "normal" edition. I hope not to offend any owners. I would like to know, though, what is the real attraction, apart from the fact that only a small number has been built?

I don't like that weird trim.. but the dark wood is cool...
so is the manual A/C control unit.. Before I came to the US, I never saw a W124 w/ the automatic AC control unit.. |
