I wonder how many V12s are out there. Brabus made at least one. Some unknown garage somewhere in the world has probably made one too. Must be quite an effort to squeeze that engine into the W124.

I've always thought that a cool car would be a W126 SEC with the M120...

That said I don't think it would be "too" difficult. By that I mean I think you'd only have to 'massage' the first firewall, I don't think you'd have to cut back the actual firewall. I doubt even any fender work, it's narrower than the M119...

The amount of work for the SEC would probably be similar to this:
M120 into 560SL (With Pictures!)

The M120 has been put into a 560SEC. See:

I also am aware of another one in progress in CA.

There are at least 2 sump configurations for the M120. 129 version uses a front sump. 140 version uses a mid sump. There may be others.

That's it, I'm selling all personal possessions and living in a box until I can find an SEC and a 120 to bring together in glorious harmony. You would have any idea as to the difficulty of the swap compared to your 107?

M120's are very cool motors. Everything gets better with the M120 in the 107. HP is almost doubled, gas mileage goes up about 15%, vibration goes down and the sound.

Sweeeeeeeeet

Ah just like on the M113's. Did you weigh the 120 before you installed ?

Cheers

Yes

Fully Dressed it weighs 667LB. I weighed it with all accessories either installed or put on top as shown in the photos. It also includes the engine stand fitting which If I recall weighs 7 Lb.

It's hard to estimate that without personally having done it, but knowing it's been done before is always a big help. For my 2000 mile away ball park estimate I would say about the same amount of work.

From my calculations, you're looking about a 50lb penalty over a 2JZ. For twice the displacement, more power (stock for stock), and that godalmighty V12 howl....worth it. From what I've read it's only 12lbs heavier than the very first gen Viper motors, which got about 20lbs heavier in successful generations...

That's not bad for a ginormous V12!
