Where do you get after market performance products?
I looked at Fastlane Phil's, but did not see anything but replacement parts. I was wondering what you consider to be the best source for after market perfomance products for older Benzes?
I've looked some but haven't seen a lot available in most suppliers' catalogs for older cars (early 1990s and before).

Oh, I figured I must have just missed it. Performance Products is one that i've seen, but I understand they are very slow and unreliable. Darn!

Performance parts for old Mercedes . . . . good luck.
 There are several reasons, including: 1) Lack of demand. Even when the cars were new, there wasn't a big demand for tuning parts for very expensive sedans. 2) The cars were already pretty well tuned . . . but heavy. 3) The old mechanical fuel injection systems and electronics are outdated.

what are you looking for? We have AMG spec cams and AMG headers...
Factory tuned US cars have a LOT of room for improvement.. 240HP from 5.6L isn't exactly phenomenal :-P The 300HP ECE cars were a Nice setup. EFI is coming along as well..have rails lined up, trigger wheels, brackets etc, etc.. Twin turbo bits are still in the works.. I see you list a 1980 280SE there, any thoughts on EFI for the M110 motor? I would think a balanced and blueprinted M110 with EFI and crank-fire ignition could spin to 7500rpm.... Your thoughts? Back to the original question, older Mercedes performance parts will probably consist of looking for solutions on your own and/or finding someone that's already done something with success. I doubt there are "shops" to buy stuff from, just the nature of the Mercedes owners I guess...the vintage hotrod parts market is more for Porsche & BMW

at least there are some parts made for the W126. . .there is almost nothing made for the W107 (I guess the thinking is that it is perfect the way it was built).
Im thinking about making a dual snorkel breather (like thoes on the hammer motors) for my M117. . .anything to get more air into the intake. . . like this

Knowing Mercedes the engine is likely signing off pretty hard as it approaches red line. You would need a different cam pushing the torque peak up 500-700 rpm to make that extra head room worthwhile. For longevity's sake different pistons and con rods would be in order were you to make 7500 a regular occurrence;-) One this is for certain though, it sure would sound MEAN w/ the right exhaust!!!!
