Post Best Way to Improve Performance?

I'm searching for a $300 - $500 method for increasing gas mileage and horsepower, preferrably something that I (a weekend mechanic) can install myself ... Any ideas from the group?

I reviewed the Jacobs Omni Majum aftermarket ignition enhancement system as an alternative. I saw the product in Performance magazine, but the graph displayed within the advertisement only compares spare energy vs. RPM... it does not compare horsepower or fuel economy. Any comments on this solution?

I look forward to feedback.

Thank you.

Steven,
Welcome to Mercedesshop! i installed my jacobs ignition on my 87 300E 6 months ago and so far i am happy with my purchase.
it gives me a slight increase in torque and signifigantly better MPG. An enlarged throttle body plus a few other upgrades such as a performance fuel pressure regulator . will also do the trick in performance gains but not so much in fuel economy.
God Bless America!
Adam

Thanks for your reply. I'm curious, what was your MPG before and after the install?

hey adam

where did you get the performance fuel pressure regulator? is it for 300E's (103 engine)? is it an aftermarket or oem part?

do you have any other performance tricks for the 300E's for torque or hp? (i already have the 1st gear valve body and 3.27 diff).

please let me know and where i can buy the performance fuel pressure regulator.

andy
