500E gremlins?
I am considering buying a 1992 or 1993 500E. Used to have a 1994 E420 so am familiar with the car generally - upper and lower wiring harnesses - and of course the dreaded rear SLS system. What else should be checked in one of these cars? What typically goes wrong?
Thanks all.

read thru the forum. It seems after 1985 the E class and the Cs are pure trouble. I'd never buy one.I stick to S Class models.

1985 to 1995 was the best benz's made ever! If i find a good 1992 E500 in good shape and price i would buy it. I will check the usuals as the op stated, other than that ill just jump on such a rare car. I think the 1992 ones are the most powerfull ones due to a different ecu! |

500Espot.com is the dedicated W124036 forum. There are many threads on common issues to check before purchase. See you there!
