Planning new project.

Well I am seeing the end of the current car in the future. Headers, some body work and a roll bar maybe. May upgrade as parts brake in the driveline etc.
But I think that I may be ready to start something new from scratch.
I have been thinking and planning a m119 project for years. Going back and forth. I also really want another w126 sec. So I have been thinking of getting a ME m119 and using a bosch motorsports ecu and running my 722.6 standalone and doing up an SEC. Ultimately stroking a m119 with the 5.6l crank and then twin turbos with sleeves and pistons in the block. This will be basically a street rod. I was thinking of eventually doing a Ford rear end or Mark Williams custom.
What do you guys think? This would of course be a long term project. I was thinking of picking up and engine and maybe and ecu in the next year or so and a car if one lands in my lap.

"some mods improve your car and make it into something it never was, other mods, however, although essentially the same, are not, and make that car a ricer"

if your car isnt shiny, you dont know what you are talking about, remember; paint shine = knowledge. In order to be taken seriously, you should spend all your money on paint, (and get a dyno reading).
Dont forget to polish it often

I have already talked to my machinist about sleeving the block. I will probably do this after I grenade the first engine. I am still waiting for a quote for the Bosch MS4.

Just the 722.6 alone really would make this car a sweet driver. The M119 or M120 would give it kick ass power.

Why the bosch motorsports ecu? Not nocking it, it's way out of my tax bracket, and if I had the dime to spend on one I'd go for it. Just wondering why so high end....

Why not starting with an early US 5.0 W126 Coupe? They are cheap and with a 8:1CR they are a good candiates for turbo charging. Mind you, they even reunited both exhaust maniolds behind the engine so that you just have to plug the turbo from there. and K-jet takes turbo quite well. This would be cheap, relatively easy and fast.

Funny this should come up right before I call you about buying a controller for... a M119 W126 swap.

I'm planning to do Megasquirt MS3X control though.

I am actually thinking of doing something different now. I have been tossing around cdi diesel for a while and am really looking into doing this instead. I started thinking about bosch when talking to destroked about there cdi control unit and then started thinking about the m119 when looking at the website and saw the gas ecus. The low end bosch cdi ecu is around 4000. I can get 4,5, and 6 cylinder diesels with cdi for under 5000. I could justify a 4 or 5 cylinder cdi in my wagon for a daily driver. Good performance and great fuel economy. I know the e320 sedans are getting a little over 30mpg combined and I could get a 4cylinder and get probably around 40mpg.

M120 in a W124. It'll fit. Barely.

And they handle some boost, too. Nothing serious, no more than 0.6 bar. Enough for about 600whp.

the W124 and the R129 share the same front main chassis frame and yes the m120 will fit but i seriously doubt it will leave room for boosting the beast, any more power has to come thru rear mounted turbos, which i think is a headache , or nitro.

Never understood paying 10k to mod a car for fuel efficiency. 10k would buy a lot lot lot of gas.

But if it's fun, yeah, why not. Don't see any room for turbos on a W126 M119 though. Everything is pretty well crammed in there already. :/

It is, with an aluminum block.

Though I couldn't see turboing an M120 when you can get the same thing out of an M119...
