If you keep trying to find things that give you more power for less money than Nitrous, this is going to be outrageous.

I would not get to excited. These were insanely expensive when they were still available.
I got quoted like 8,000 U.S. over 10 years ago. Plus installation. That is why I started with supercharging. You could have a custom blower or turbo application made for these cars for about the same. And the systems were with small turbos and cast small manifolds for lower power applications. If they add modern injection to it the price will clime over 10,000. without inflation. And get anyone to commit. I always here people say they want something but no one will actually pay. Even if the kits were half this only a handful of people would buy it. The limited slip differentials is a perfect example and headers. I can not tell you how many people have wanted a lsd or headers for these cars. But if you build them or find a solution 2-3 or maybe 5-10 people will ever buy them. That is still in the one off custom build numbers for any product. Could not justify building a jig for a product for numbers like this. |

Agreed. I still want an LSD, but I don't even know what diff I'm going to use yet... Whoops.

10y back I was quoted 9k without shipping. And if all they do is have it done. The same way as in not a new designe to how the turbos are placed and the inter cooler position then it's not really worth it.

Why, if peoples really want to blow these cars don't they just build, or get help building a custom set up? Yes, in modern terms it means stand alone & injection & all the rest but it's not some new rocket science
oldsinner111, as others have alluded to, if you want a performance beast & can't do @ least some of the stuff yourself & money is a concern, there is your problem immediately! There is alot of small stuff that adds up in the end. Truth is. Jap cars are easy cause they have EFI & their ECU can @ least be chipped or a piggyback added...... I've confessed way back that the only reason I continue with my pita build is I had bought it already modified & it was shagged! It is just bthe same hassle really to convert it back & as if I would convert back to CIS Would I bother to even consider doing this to a perfectly fine W124from scratch if I knew the time/money it would cost? NEVER! These Mercs were ahead of their time back 20 odd years ago. They certainly aren't nowdays. The Japs kinda caught up with a vengeance..... Btw, you can certainly get custom EFI & turbo/IC gear for a warm W124 for far less than 10k any day of the week, providing you start with a decent stocker & source stuff yourself! Custom header. Decent Garrett turbo (not Chinese crap). EFI gear ie: Fuel pump/s. EDIS gear & stand alone ECU to suit. IC & piping. Keep in mind with stand alone, decent ones have a MAP sensor built in so that takes care of the pre-intake hard work. Finally, unless you are wanting period replication, single turbos manufactured nowdays, more than compensate for older twin design. Even serious Supra & Skyline owners are divided over which is better. Twins? or a decent twin cartridge BB ceramic billet single? Do the research properly. Alot of performance folk have dropped the older twin tech for a single. Easier & cheaper for a start..... just trying to balance the bull**** against the facts

I actually sold a twin kit a while back and am more than happy with my single. A properly sized single will always be more efficient than twins.

Yeah. Well since the new kit the OP has listed is a single for the 4 banger. Be OK as long as price is somewhat reasonable?
