Hi All- I have a 95 C36 motor swapped into my 95 E320 wagon. We did the swap over the summer this year. The car runs and drives very nicely. I am in the process of getting the computer tuned to the 3.6 info. The ECU is running with the stock 3.2 info right now. We used the w124 wiring harness (seeing it was replaced) and in turn the w124 stock ecu. I have the bigger 3.6 crossover tube, but am using the e320 valve cover. The 3.6 crossover only works with the 2.8 style valve cover.

I have read a lot of threads about the "diesel" noise these motors make. My car definitely has it and am trying to get a feel if my engine falls within the norm or not. I have not heard another 3.6 motor in person and am only going on what I have read online. I am running 10/40 royal purple oil in the engine. The diesel noise only stays till about 1700-1800 rpm at which point it sounds normal. There are no performance issues just the noise. I have read some threads saying this is where the cam adjuster starts to kick in. I took a video of the car at idle earlier to see what you all think.

You may need to use a combustion cleaner for upper cylinders.To clean carbon thats glowing giving it the preignition sound.GM has a good cleaner for this.

Sounds perfectly normal- mine is quiet off idle- give it 500 RPM's it silences.

Sounds just like mine. The noise is just the Bosch mechanical fuel injection. 'Tis the sound of power. Enjoy the music....

I thought the M104 had EFI? Even K-Jet doesn't sound like that.

I may be mistaken but I have been given to understand that Bosch KE-Jetronic FI used on the M104 engines is a mechanical system with electronic controls.

Perhaps someone with more intimate and authoritative knowledge than myself can comment.

It's full efi with sfi and knock control.
