I have the Delsing cambr arms in my 500E. They work very well allowing you to adjust rear camber. They are also made of top quality materials.

I also use the Delsign camber correction kit on my 1993 124 (by the way the picture looks like it is the Delsign design or a copy of it) and no problems so far. Should have seen the faces of the people at the dealeship when I took it in for a wheel alignment.:D
Mechanics gathered around my car like it was the Batmobile.
By the way I paid $300.00 plus shipping if memory serves me right.

hendy. do you install those because you had too much negative camber squat in the rear. do you still have the leveling shocks or other shocks. i was thinking of getting some but i have plenty of travel in the rear. can you take a pic for me if its not too much trouble. thanks.

David Hendy 02-11-2002 11:55 AM

I put the camber arms in so I could increase the camber for track days. I also adjusted front and rear toe, my car turns in much crisper now and still tire wear is within reason.

I still have the hydraulic shocks, although everything (including cells) is new.

I use the Delsing rear camber-arm's as well on our wagon. For some reason, the ends don't look as strong as the Delsing or RennTech camber arms.

The Delsing use Aurora Teflon replaceable bushings.

Here's a pic of the Delsing arms:

Guido- unless you're on the track often and/or can afford to replace those 18-inch rears often, I'd keep your rear camber to no more than -2.00 degrees for the street, preferably -1.5 to 1.75
Since you've lowered with H&R springs, you should have some negative camber already.

David- please due tell what you set your front & rear toe to while on the track.

BTW, if you set the rear camber to say -2 or greater (some say -3 to -4 on a twisty track), how are you setting the front camber?

Thanks,
:-) neil

The reason I brought this out is:
I won't spend $349 for a adjust camber arm set (Delsing' price has been increased), the $199 set is more acceptable to me.
Richard, sorry to get back to you this late, this is the info, the guy only has an email address not website, talk to him for more datails and keep me informed. I have not order the kit yet, just try to find out any experience with this set.

Lowering Question???

For those who have lowered their 500E's using H&R springs...how was the rear camber affected and were the adjustment arms required?

Thanks for your time,

ItalianBenz 02-11-2002 11:37 PM

Hi Dean. Hmm on mine after I installed the H&R's. Not much camber. Probably because I didnt mess with the geometry of the hydraulic leveling. Neil if I installed coil springs but didnt mess with the lowering by the way of the valve. I shouldn't see too much negative camber correct. I mean looking at it. It seems pretty straight up and down. If I were to lower it more with the leveling valve then I should expect more, sounds correct?

Give me your feedback thanks.

ke6dcj 02-12-2002 02:36 AM

Guido- per the MB manual, when changing out springs, you must adjust your self-levelling valve to the neutral position.

Otherwise you're rear-end is not at the optimal damping/height ratio.

Moreover, since rear camber increases as the suspension is lowered, if you have *not* adjusted your self-levelling valve, then rear-camber stays the same as before.

I would adjust to the neutral position, and enjoy the negative camber in the twisties.

The purpose of the camber-arms is twofold:

1) to increase negative camber for better handling in curves;

2) to bring the camber within an acceptable tire-wear range when the vehicle has been lowered.

Hope that helps,

:-) neil

CHC,
Just lowered my W124 non 500e with the HR's from neuspeed. I also put in bilstien sport shocks and went with 3 bump pads in the rear. The negative camber is visible to the trained or observant eye but it is not significant to warrant spending $300+ on a camber kit. I'll be keeping an eye on the tire wear through the summer. I doubt I'll see any significant inside wear.
$199 does not sound bad at all if you like the aesthetics of a lowered car but hate the look of a bit of negative camber. I may even drop this guy an email.

same here, I just put the neuspeed (by H&R form what I hear) spring on my 89 300E with 105000 miles, but with the stock shocks/struts. The ride is smooth/flat to me. The harshness from the stiffer spring is not noticeble to me since I spend most of my dirve on freeway, even on surface street, it's not bad either. I am just curious how much of difference the new shock/strut will make. What is your experience with the bilstien sport shocks, did you change everthing at the same time.
My car has a negative 3/4 degree rear camber already before the lower spring, the rear tires look tilted in at the top but not that bad. I have 3 bump pads at the back, front unknown. I might have the rear camber check to see how bad it is. And also will keep my eye on the rear tires too.

Chc, Yep I changed everything at the same time. The only time the sport shock makes its presense known is during hard dips or bumps. The shock does a nice job of reeling the car back down. It was quite a shock (no pun intended) when I first noticed this. The sport shock does not give you a lot of 'float' in this situation if you get my meaning. Some people might actually like a little bit of 'float' in the suspension when exiting hard dips:). I like it.

I had about the same degree of negative camber you had before I lowered. I am guessing I probably added a half degree after the drop.

I know what you mean about flat. You don't realise how flat the ride has become until you look at the speedometer when taking your favorite hi speed corner!!:D
