Resistor, 190
Ok sorry here guys.. but I did a search but didn't find anything what I needed!
All I want to know is, where is the resistor that people talk about for the resistor mod, and how do you set it or what are the settings..?.. Or if someone knows the title of the thread which covered this.. I'd be a happy man!! Also, what does US 93 octane fuel equate to in Europe? thanks & later, Russ

Try searching this board for "R-16". That is the symbol for the resistor in the manual. If your car is a european model, it might have a rotary switch in the area behind the battery that does the same thing. We are talking about the "reference resistor" that tells the ignition circuit how much advance to utilize. If you have access to a manual, there are pictures that show the location.

yay! 2phast is the man.. On the THIRD Mercedes Forum I've found him inhabiting, he posted some pics and a superb explanation.. thanks 2phast & Jim. Unfortunately, it's only for the US versions, and I still don't know if anyone knows the euro models settings.
I don't have an MB service CD, but I do have access to the Bosch service CDs with pretty much all the data you could ever find about anything electrical on any car... So I'll take a look at these to see what they say, when I am at my dad's 'indy' garage in a few weeks. later, Russ
