I've enjoyed reading postings on this forum for several months, have learned a great deal. Regrettably, my first posting will in all likelihood be my last for a while, as circumstances dictate that I have to sell my Mercedes 500E.

I've listed an ad on autotrader (id 77281983), and started an auction on Ebay. Other things being the same, I'd prefer to have my car end up with an enthusiast, hence this posting.

If you've come this far, you probably already know
how the Mercedes 500E was a limited production super sedan
hand assembled by Porsche; here is a summary of the model's features:

It has a 322 HP 5-Liter V8 (the same as in the SL500), a custom
body (lower and wider, with flared fenders), Porsche
designed self leveling suspension, and a superior brake system.
It has a sport seating arrangement, 2+2, with 10 way
adjustable, heated front seats. The car retailed for
80,000 dollars new, and fewer than 1500 were sold in the US.
Other features include a sunroof, electric sunscreen, phone, 6-disc
CD player.

This car is a 1992 500E in pearl black (paint code 199)
with a grey leather interior. It has 92,500 miles on it.

It's in excellent shape - I just performed the 30 kMile
service, and everything checked out perfectly.
I have full records - I bought it late 2000 from a local
businessman, who bought it in 1996 from the Mercedes
dealership in town. All service prior to 1996 was done
by the dealership; all subsequent service has been doneat Ben's workshop, a very reputed local independent.

I've enjoyed the car immensely, it has precision handling,
a tight suspension, mounds of power, a beautiful finish,
and that unique heritage.

I'm selling it because I had my first child recently, and
my wife has had to stop working. We need a big SUV, and
can't afford both.

Two common problems with this car, namely the ACC and
the wiring harness have both been taken care of. Additionally,
the injectors have been replaced, and the power steering pump
was recently resealed. It's never been hit. The 92,500 miles
aren't a lot for this engine; other than a new timing chain
every 100-120 kmiles, it should go forever.

If I had the cash, and lived in your country, I would be on your doorstep already - that's a beautiful 500E. Maybe if you have another such superb and well maintained car in 10 years time, when I'll have finished my degree, moved to the USA, and started a computing company (yeah right), I'll take it off your hands..?! For now a high-spec low mileage 190E has to do though.
