Hi guys

I've been looking around to see if I could find some place, where it was stated how long a E500 is ?

My problem is that my current garrage is exactly 5 meters, and the E500 fits fine in there, but I might buy a new car which is 5034 mm long! And it would be a shame to get the last 34 mm cut off by the garage door

I had a look in the instruction manual, but could not find anything about external sizeing, can anyone help ?

My records show it being 4755mm (187.2") long.

According to an insert that came with my owner's manual, a 500E is 4755 mm long; it is 1538mm high, and is 1796 wide

I have a 1994 E500, but I do not have the insert that Michael refered to in my manual. According to info I dug up on the web there is no difference in length between the model years. Remeber that there was a face lift to the car in 1994 including new bumpers. Is there anyway you can drive the car home and give it a try before taking delivery?

As a seperate question, is there anyone you know that could help me identify the part numbers for the E500LTD springs?

I know of a source for the springs in Japan at http://www.j-auto.pro.or.jp/ but the problem is they do not respond to my email inquiries in English or machine-translated Japanese.

If you know someone who speaks Japanese who could contact them directly, I'm sure we could arrange a shipment. The price is lower than H&R springs and, as I understand, M-B doesn't even recommend a change of front shocks!

Hi Dean,

We are on the same track. I attempted 3 times to contact the boys in Japan and have had no replies. At this point I am trying to find someone who is conversant in Japanese and keep chasing this. Since your comment headed the same way, I assume you do not know of anyone yourself.

BTW - I did the conversion rate on the dollar/yen last month and it looks like these are $480 for the set of four. Do you have any idea what the difference between our stock springs and these are? Where did you hear/read that we can use the same front shocks?
