MB Hot Rod Specials
Hi,
Due to the arrival of my new born son I have sadly started to sell some of my toys, but still have a itch I need to scratch. I have sold my 911, and I’m in the process of selling my 250SL in order to my a new ML (nice stable family car for the urban jungle). I am thinking that a project car - a Special - is needed in the Moore household. My wife has not yet heard this little titbit of news, but I expect she will notice as I start accumulating parts fenders etc. I'm thinking along the likes of a late 60's 3.5 V8 engine, long nose, boat tail rump, 60's classic wheels etc. Has anyone embarked on a similar journey? Any past articles etc would be helpful. All the best to you all for Easter Dan |

Since you asked...
How about if you take back your deposit on the ML, stick with the 300TE 4matic, and go shopping for a nice old TVR or an Almac Cobra replica from across the Tasman there in New Zealand? www.almac.co.nz (no affiliation) They make a nice Lotus 7 replica kit too, could be a basis for your special if you are really crazy!

Mark,
Just want to build something and have a thing for MB engineering. At 6'4'' I think the TVR might be a squeeze and I'd love a AC Cobra if its on offer. A guy in Brisbane (Ivan Shaw) built two Bently specials which are fantastic. He used 1950 Bentley Mark VIs as donor cars. 4Matic going well, No deposit on the ML - as yet, looking for a LWB G Wagon but very few in Australia, though I think that there a few in NZ Regards |

Well, some more free advice, then(!): try a search on this forum for M119 V8's. I believe Neil posted a nice article on the Sauber Mercedes Le Mans racers, which were of course of high interest to all of us M119-powered 500E owners on this site. Maybe you could build a Bentley-thrasher around that!
