Decoding the code.

Need some guidance to decoding manual transmission codes. 716.653 NSG 400/6.1 then 716.653 SG-S370/6.1. I assume the 6 means 6-speed but 6 speed what. Also 5.3, assume 5 is 5 spd, then what. Have already found 18 different codes just for the W203, seems nuts. Any info appreciated.
