Can the 55AMG engine be fit to a W220 S500 4Matic?
 

just as the title says, can I change the 500 engine with the 55 engine? I know I have to keep the old oil pan that accommodates the CV and prolly the front dif.

It looks like the pan will swap over. But your bigger problem is getting the ecu to work properly. It can be done if the s500 has me2.8. You will have to get the ecu unlocked and then marry it to the car.

Thanks. Was thinking I can keep it on stock Ecu. And just flash the s55 file into its Ecu. My friend swapped out his 43 engine Amg in the 202 with a 55 from a 208 keeping the same Ecu. And not even flashing the 55 software. The car runs perfect.

are you talking an N/A 55 engine or a supercharged one. I assumed you meant the supercharged one. If n/a for sure. Not sure I see the point though for the work involved it really is not that much more power.

Yes I'm talking Abt na. It's Abt a 60hp gain and Abt same in torque. Enough to counter the extra weight of my long wheelbase 4matic

Well guess what lads! Just bought my self a used m113 981 eng! First gen 55 one rated at abt 350hp. I know it ain’t much of an increase over my 500 eng. but it will be just enough to get my car on par with non 4matic short wheelbase s500.
Should start the transplant early Monday maybe end of this week depending on how free my garage is from client cars.
And yes I have not posted since for ever for I had nothing interesting to post abt!
Sold most of cars, the AMG is gone, the Mosselman 124 gone. The 126 is gone, the 140 been sat next to my home for some 4 years now and will sell soon enough.
Seems I’ll be keeping the 4matic 124 and was abt to buy a mint C32AMG but chickened out for fear of my lack of self control in small nimble amgs.
