I have a 2004, C230 Kompressor Sport Sedan. It has an intake silencer that sits between the intercooler and the intake plenum. Its purpose is to quiet the intake noise. Upon inspection, this device appears to be nothing more than a muffler for the supercharger noise. Has anyone removed it and replaced it with silicone boost hose and metal tubing? Seems as though removing a restriction from the intake would be beneficial. Any thoughts?

Thank you very much for the link. I found it very informative. There seems to be some contradictory chassis dyno results with different combinations of headers, exhaust, ECU re-maps, and other electronic changes which I find rather puzzling. I cannot image one would not see a major power boost with the addition of a Kleeman header, high-flow cats, and a performance exhaust. The stock exhaust manifold looks frightfully constricting. I have also read the cork in the M-B exhaust is usually the cats. My plan is to add the Kleeman header + their hi-flow cats, Remus Exhaust, and a Kleeman remap of the ECU. I am already running a K&N air filter. On my next trip to Charlotte, NC I will try to find a chassis dyno to get a baseline before the addition of the performance parts. I would be very disappointed to spend $2500 on go-fast goodies with no appreciable change but more exhaust noise. That would be a bummer. Thanks for your help. Somewhere in the responses someone noticed that the coating on the K&N
filter was coating and screwing up the MAF sensor and went back to the Benz. Something to keep in mind.
