Cooling the C36
A while back my C36 nearly overheated because the fuse supplying the Auxillary fan relays blew due to some other loads in the same circuit.
I nearly had a heart attack when I saw my temp gauge climb almost to the red zone. To prevent a recurance, I installed a relay to feed 12VDC directly off the battery into the fans, controlled by ME via a switch in the cabin. A side benifit of this is that I can now reduce my engine temps at will to around 80 degrees simply by toggling my switch for a couple of seconds. As fellow C36 owners may have found out, the 104 engine feels stronger when temps are below 90 deg. Coooool |

I also installed a toggle switch under my dash for manual control of my auxilary fan it comes ir real handy sitting in traffic! What i did is hook the switch to the AC temp sender to make the switch low current. Works Great!

i did the same thing with my 16v. having manual control of the fan is nice, especially in slow traffic on a very hot day.

I did one bette rin my brothers range rover. I wired the switch up to be able to ovveride the temperature switch. That way I can turn it on at will, but it will also go on automatically as well when it needs to by itself.

Automatic functioning of the fans is unaffected because i put in an addional circuit, bypassing the existing relays with one of my own. Works great plus peace of mind when in traffic, knowing that high fan speed is just a flick of the switch away. Summer here in the Philippines is pretty blistering.
Does your cars feel stronger too when engine temps are in the 80's range? I notice this in my Benzes. I guess it is enrichment valve at work. Cheers |
