Visit to RENNTech
I just got back from Florida and could not resist a trip down to RENNTech.
They had a 1993 500E (6.oL) with 19,000 miles on the clock. It was nice inside (9.5) and not as nice exterior and trunk (8). Also, I don't think it is worth the $55,000 they are asking. For that kind of money I could send my '92 down to have the work done and make it nice and fresh. Bob advised me to consider a V-8 4Matic to convert to a 6.0 because of the weather in the Northeast. I was thinking all that power would not be good in the snow no matter how many wheels are turning! Well, if someone wants a solid '92 with 90k on the clock I would part with it for the downpayment and consider the 6.0. :-) Anyone know of any other RENNtech 6.0's out there? Dave |

Yes, I believe the user, "Actack" has full Renntech mods including the 6.0L engine. Try a search?
BTW, did you get a test drive in the 6.0L? |

'Test Ride'
Well, unfortunately I only got to test 'ride' the car. Bob, the salesman, drove. It IS fast and stops even faster!
I have been emailing ACTACK and look forward to seeing him at Watkins Glen on 7/22. The search continues. Dave |

The problem with the Renntech is what you get for your dollar.
With a newer engine like the 55 AMG engine, I can install a Kleemann kit and get almost 100 more HP for a fraction of the cost of the 6.0 conversion. So, why would anyone want an enigne taken out and apart to install a 6.0 kit for 440 or so HP when you can just bolt on a Kleemann supercharger and get 540HP??? Yes, the whole packages are cool that Renntech offers when they build the big $ one off package...Like the CLK GT or something. But really, how many of us can afford that?

You have my attention.
Hi Donnie,
Please drop me an email about the particulars on the Kleemann kit. I thought the E55 had 349 HP stock. How do you get to 540!!! The search continues. Dave |
