Food for thought...
In addition to the MBCA there are some fringe clubs that focus on particular models of MB. ie the Gullwing Group, and the M100 club. And the BMW club has the 850 Owner's Group.
Has anyone given thought to a 500E/E500 Owner's Group? Or perhaps an M119 Owner's Group? Or is that being too elite-ist? Maybe rather than Owner's Groups, just have 500E/E500 Club or M119 Club so that one doesn't have to own one to join? It would be more open to people who are aficionados, but may not be able to get their hands on one. Let me know what y'all think via the poll. You've got 7 days to vote

What about simply a Registry? I've got a spreadsheet going as a result of the "Roll Call" thread-my thoughts were to make it available to 500E/E500 owners so that they might more easily facilitate track events, and perhaps hook up socially.
I guess it depends-where do you want to go with this, and how much time do you want to spend/type of events you want to coordinate?

I Like Registry
Michael's suggestion of a "Registry" sounds fine to me.
Because of the limited production(USA anyway) of these cars, a registry as well as this fine forum, are great tools for uniting owners to compare notes and swap lies, er , stories/experiences |

I like the idea of a club; I really don't care whether it is only open to owners or not. Since there are not many of us around, we could probably help with the numbers by opening it up to enthusiasts.
Since I am a mechanical "duh", I need all the help I can get! This forum and the Ritter-Easley site are the only internet sites that are very helpful. The MBCA tech site just contains a lot of educated guesses. It would be nice to have another site! Tom Woolner |

If you'd like a copy of the list, and own a 500, email me directly and I'll share with you what I have. I prefer to limit my distribution to owners-only, since I'm simply trying to help my fellow owners out there (no offense meant towards any/all others, assuredly ) and don't want to feel obliged to send out 500+ copies.
If you receive the Registry and would like to provide updates/add'l info, please advise separately-don't send me back the original spreadsheet okay? Thanks in advance, all, and thanks to Bill, Donnie & the gang for getting us together!

My vote goes towards a 500E/E500 Club,
Athough the M119 Club sounds good to me as well. After all, any mods that can be done to the M119.974 500E/E500 engine, can also be done to the M119.975 400E engine (at least I think they can???). Lets face it, these vehicles have a way of quickly finding a warm place in our Hearts, they are just as special if not more so than the current AMG offerings, at least IMHO. Who knows, with enough support from such a "Group" of 500E owners, maybe we can corrdinate a engineering effort to mate the awesome Kleemann Supercharger kit to the M119.97x engine. Can you guys picture a gaggle of 500E's at the track of your choice kicking everyone's A@# all the way around, and I mean everyone? |
