That's what I though. I've seen old really crispy ones that don't even return to shut without help. So the question is, if the meter arm is pointed up is the counter weight arm pointed down? I need to look at a diagram. I've never pulled one apart.

Personally, I think you're way overthinking it. Its air flow v/s fuel pressure. Relative position will likely be the least significant tuning factor you'd have to face to do what you want.

Well i have to over think it really. i don't want it to be a factor while im getting the turbo setup working. So looking at this opened up air meter i see a potential problem. the weight which is hanging down now would actually be trying to push the air valve shut(lean)under acceleration, if its slightly heavier than the plate side of the arm. have to check it out balance wise. it will really help my ducting if i can turn it up.The stock injector lines can possibly be rebent and used, plus throttle linkage can stay where it is.

Hi rwd4evr.
How about mounting the CIS unit horizontally behind the right headlight, then have the turbo suck through it? That would be similar to the OEM setup on Volvo 240 turbos, which also had CIS. Flexible lines were then used to feed the injectors. I'm not an expert on CIS, but I would be very surprised if it works as intended mounted vertically. |

Yes something like that is definitely in the running for the final plan. I'm not sure about if i can pirate a long enough braided line for the rear driver side injectors though. Maybe a combo of braided connected to hard lines. I need to find out what cars used the longest, audi vw or volvo. Still a bunch up in the air. I founfd a guy that makes hoses but havent contacted him yet and im pretty sure i cant afford them. its possible i could flare and make my own set from small tubing but haven't really researched that yet.

rwd:
Consider rotating the air meter/FD 90 deg. to the left about its longitudinal axis. Said another way, flop the air meter over to the left so that the discharge (bottom) side now faces to the right, rather than down. |

That is another option I was considering. Issue with that I see is basically the same but on a different axis. Being a drift car it sees pretty high g loads for extended periods and also fairly violent changes from left to right in transitions. So if there is the accel/ decell issue I'm concerned about it would be there still but wanting to lean it out turning one way and fatten it up the other. I just thought of this while writing this, maybe I can just tilt it up on like a 45* angle with the discharge rearward and just up high enough to turn 90*and clear the valve cover. If there is a balance issue with the meter arm it would be reduced significantly.
