Conn. Rod bolt and main bearing cap bolts
Got my new je pistons in for the turbo m104. Engine should be reassembled in a few weeks.
https://imgur.com/a/j8i6CMn All bolts for connecting rods, main bearing cap bolts, and flexplate bolts all measure within spec., but I'm not sure If i should still replace them. Any strength benefits of replacing the bolts or am i just being paranoid? Any thing better than stock for connecting rod bolts? M9x1 x 52mm Price at dealership is over $450 |
Gonna end up ordering bolts for peace of mind, about half the price on pelican.

Have you looked at ARP or similar? There might be something off the shelf from another engine.
The stock bolts are probably $$ due to low demand. |
I've checked there online catalog but haven't called them.
The inline bmw bolts are close but are m9x1.25 |
I doubt there would be anything better than stock by any company-I would not worry about the stock hardware. I have never heard of any Mercedes rod or main bolt failing.

Just to be shure put new OE bolts.
Friends om605 had rod bolt failure(tough he had bit extreme rpm's, 7k) |
