1989 W126 300SE Lsd???

Hello, been reading in this forum a long time, and with envy for all the cool projects some of you guys have.
I have a 300SE that in time will get efi, 722.6 trans and a turbo.
So now I am gathering info on the things I need to purchase.
So now to my question: do any one of you know what diff will fit my car?
I have heard that the 210mm is very strong but I cant find info if that will fit.

The picture is fromthe paintshop, some restoration work has been done.https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/201...edc79b03bd.jpg

The 210mm diff was used in V8 W126 cars. It is a bolt-in. It requires that the axle shafts from the V8s also be used (different CV joints, shorter shafts).

Hello Frank, thanks for your answer.
Do you know if it has to be from a gen 2 car?

Since yours is a Gen II, yes it will require a Gen II V8 diff, or a complete rear subframe w/diff from a Gen I. The mounting of the diff to the subframe is different for Gen I & Gen II.

Short of a boosted engine, the 185mm diff is likely sufficient, and offers a wider selection of ratios.

Ok, the easiest solution for lsd would be the best.
But it need to be strong, going for ca 400-450hk

Nobody ever seems to blow up the 185 diff or shafts on street tires. I would focus on a new driveshaft.

My knowledge on diffs are very limited so I am going to ask for some more help.
Where can I find a 185mm lsd diff?
Tried searching for one with no luck

They were supplied in the 2.3/2.5L 4-valve equipped 190Es.

The diff in my 2.3 5-speed 1985 190e in tiny. I’m pretty sure it is not LSD, but it’s a data point that makes me think, “Really?”.

The gen 2 diffs are available all over the place any late model 126 V8 or 107 will have them. The trick will be getting a different gear ratio unless you are happy with a 2.47, which you will not be with 6 cyl. So the only options are to get a 126/107 diff 1986 and later. Find a gear set form another car that will fit and get either a European carrier also used in the US spec 300 SDL's with ADS or a Quaif or Waveteck aftermarket carrier.

You basically need to make the diff you want from pieces of 3 cars. For me the 2.82 gearset and carrier from the 300SDL stuffed into my 107 housing is what I need and am working on right now.

Thank you Roncallo.
Shame there isn't more plug and play parts for these cars.
