I just did this today. 16V flange was cut, tubes were crushed back to round and the new 8V flange was tacked. Obviously not finished.

Some guy somewhere in the world probably already did this. But I only found one picture on the internet.

Plan is the following:
-16v header
-2.25" exhaust
-Megasquirt 2
-LS coils
-Dbilas cam
-Electric fan with aluminum shroud

I also swapped the automatic for a 717.412 and I had the single mass flywheel lightened by 5 pounds. The car already has Bilstein B8 with Eibach springs. I did a full suspension rebuild (subframe out) 2 years ago but I almost did not drive the car since then.

It still needs to be connected to the downpipe, but at least it clears everything.

Be sure to install a larger air filter, the one in the pic is going to be very restrictive not to mention bring in hot air.

If the fan is going to be ahead of the rad, don't put it too close otherwise no air will flow through the rad center due to the fan center blocking it. Front mounted fans are more of less for AC function at low road speed.

I ran into an overheat issue on a rotary screw air compressor up fit on a service truck where the oil cooler was marginal and the fan was pushing air.

If the fan is on the engine side, air will still be drawn through the rad even if the fan center is in the way.

Look close! The fan is installed on the aluminum shroud, engine side. The shroud puts the fan about 1" away from the rad. You're right, pusher fans aren't the best.
