Ssangyong Korea uses MB M104 engines, maybe source of goodies we can't get in USA?
I came across this while searching. I had known that Ssangyong in Korea used the MB 3.2 M104 , apparently they also made a 3.6 version but there is some discussion as to MB M104 basis or not. I wonder if this could be a good source of 3.6 engines? ( As in Japanese style engine pulls.)

Yes Ssangyong uses the M104. It purchased the rights to produce it and to the best of my knowledge it's still produced.
The SSangyong Musso even came with an OM605 attached to a T5 transmission. Try finding that bellhousing in the US. I don't...what...No.

I've been wondering quite a while about the motor mounts and motor mount arms that they use to put the 113 variant into that chassis. A 113 Kompressor in my coupe is one of my fantasies. Come to think of it it would be nice to have a trans crossmember and trans mount for the 722.6 in the 124 too.

I do not know why you would want to put a m113 in a w124. You can make more power cheaper with a turbo m104. And m104s are so plentiful in the US, even 3.6 amgs that I do not see why anyone bothers to import this stuff. I even see people importing om606 engines which are easily obtainable.

I kinda want to put a 113 Kompressor motor in it. I'd agree a plain Jane 113 wouldn't be worth the trouble, but the Kompressor motor, that's another story. As it stands I'm planning for a twin GTV 2056 setup on the 104, but I'm not going to start on the motor until I get the rear end sorted first. If a 55 Kompressor parts car pops up in the mean time that could change fast.

Make life simple. Just put a single turbo on. Make huge power and have fun. Use a split entry manifold and turbo and stall the tq converter to the right rpm to match your spool. We are spooling an 850-900 hp turbo on gas cars with an om606 at around 3500 rpm. With a down sized a/r it will hit around 3000. And it will do better on a gas engine. And it is a journal bearing turbo.

I was going to say also the big problem with any v engine in a w124 is that you cannot do exhaust properly. So in the end you end up with a huge limit on the power you can make.

And a Chinese company got relations with Ssangyong imported M104 engine made by Ssangyong. The Korean M104 works well, it works so well even new spare engines from dealer cannot sell out. (Or maybe the bought more engine than they produced that chinese version of Ssangyong SUV)So they sell them to used engine sellers for very cheap price. Some of them was bought by benz w140 s320 owners for renew their cars. 9 of them still on market.

I had an idea that I bought them all, and modify them properly internally and externally with big turbo, manifold, headers, injectors,throttle bodied, wiring harness, and standalone ECU. Makes 9 700 Hp turnkey brandnew M104 engines. That sounds really cool, but when I would got my money back is a problem seriously!
