New E430 project (the Kleemann Experience)

After driving my E430 for a year I decided that it needed a few adjustments. I went to Donnie and told him what I was looking for and he steered me towards Kleemann. It is a work in progress but Donnie installed the Kleemann Sport Suspension (on his birthday no less) for me and it is fantastic. There is no compromise in ride comfort, all your teeth fillings will stay in place, but the change in handling is unbelievable to say the least. I think I'll come out of my seat before the car will break loose. Now on to the next step of my Kleemann Experience, I am going to have Donnie put in a little SUPERCHARGER next month!

what a guy Donnie ! :-)

What are things that got changed? I think its awesome to achieve better handling yet not suffer any riding comfort! Ususually there is always some sort of compromise.

Ren

PS how much did the conversion cost? total (parts & labor)

SouthernGent 06-14-2002 10:53 AM

The Kleemann Sport Suspension consists of new speed sensitive Sports Dampers and Lowering Springs. Total cost for the conversion was $2,400. I am totally taken back as to how the "regular" ride has not been compromised but when you need the added handling it is there. I think the trick is in the "Speed Sensitive" technology where it changes the attributes based on the speed and need of the suspension. You pay a little more but keeping a comfortable ride was also important to me.

does your car sit lower or the same as before?

SouthernGent 06-14-2002 04:14 PM

The specs say about 1.3" lower but you really have to be observant to notice. I have an Obsedian Black E430 and it doesn't seem too noticable.

Congrats on your suspension. The supercharger will be icing on the cake.

FWIW, the 500E's suspension is IMHO one of best "speed sensitive suspensions" without any electronics.

MB did it by actually placing smaller swaybars ends in the front & back, and adding compression & extension-limiting springs built INTO the front dampers/shocks and the rear struts.

That's why it so important to purchase only GENUINE MB dampers/struts for the 500E, IF you want that "speed sensitive suspension."

Have fun,

Does Kleeman make a blower for a 119 motor :D

Subman 06-21-2002 02:36 PM

NO blower for the m119, however there might be some kind of custom fab to be done for the blower. Only time will tell.

What we need is someone with a M119 engine'd car, and engineering and casting resources/talent.

Someone who can take the base Kleeman intercooler and blower unit, and make an intake casting to properly house and power (via the serpentine belt) the intercooler/blower.

Kleemann is awesome!
I got a ride in a CLK430 with a Kleemann supercharger and it was fast! Kleemann is a good way to go.

I've been under the hood of the cars for so long, I missed this thread. Thanks for the kind words!

We are currently building a shop car...Well, two of them to be exact. The projects are an '01 CLK55 Kleemann and a 1902.3-16 with stage 3 porting, stainless valves, and of course, the TE 60 turbo with intercooler....STAY TUNED<
