300TD turbo options?
 

1st..I want to apologize for posting this in wrong area? I’m thinking?
I looked all over and just didn’t see the info I needed.
Have 85 300TD with bad turbo (not worth rebuilding shaft play and inducer dmg. to neglect/former owner etc.) have limited budget/just need to get it back on the road)not looking for big performance just “cheaply functional” lol

Lastly: was California car so it had that crazy exhaust turbo routing w mini cat. Converter....I’ve since removed so exhaust routing exiting the turbo is open to “whatever I make it”.

I’m told the following;

-Grab a cheap Asian turbo and throw the cartridge out of it into your stock t3
-upgrade to a Holset and replace it
