is there a reason to go with an aerospeed over say... a borla? It seems that we are talking about universal mufflers here, so is it just the price thats the selling point?

borla make some fantastic exhausts. i have a complete borla exhaust including header on my jeep wranger. i considered using a borla universal on my 16v but after looking at their offerings, i think arospeed will just fit, look, and sound better on cars like these.

What do you guys think one of these mufflers would sound like on my e420? Ive been thinking about getting a new muffler and the price sure is right. Another question is how well do these mufflers install under your car. I know that the muffler on my car is almost flush. I dont want a bunch of crap hanging down under my car making it look bad. Thanks guys.

Muffler sounds

When I have customers that want a low throaty sound on a 4 cylinder car I try to install a Turbo Muffler or Flowmaster before the final muffler. The best sounding mufflers are usually large oval can or oddly shaped mufflers.

Sorry I cant go on about this topic but back to work...

The 380SE I drive has a custom exhaust on it, and under load with the windows down, I guess I'd liken it to a small-block Ford V8 (Mustang 5-liter, maybe?). It lets people know that "this ain't no turbodiesel, bub."

I love the sound of the arospeed muffler on my C280 but it's a bit too loud when cruising down the higway.
Well...for $170.00 installed I guess I can't complain much

craiggotgame, I too am curious about the 3rd party muffler application on a V8 (I have a 92 400e). I don't care for the way the stock exhaust looks. In fact I don't know why they did it the way they did. It looks like an after thought. I think if they were going to have the muffler so far up into the body they should have gone with non visible tailpipes like BMW does. I do want something that looks like it belongs. Anyhow I would be curious as well to see if there is any performance gain or if these other mufflers can flow enough air for a V8.
