New rear shocks for my E500! Life is good.
Just had the rear shocks replaced and the hydraulic system bled. I am in utter disbelief after driving only a few miles. The car is dramatically smoother over bumps and dips, and the clunking noise from the rear has been eliminated. The tail feels much more stable during spirited driving. Brake dive seems reduced, while acceleration squat is nonexistent. I had no idea that this was the way the car is supposed to feel. I'm falling in love with her all over again. I'm amazed at how much the ride comfort has improved. The best part is, the whole thing was under Starmark, so I didn't pay a dime. Today is a good day.
Thanks again to Guido, who personally worked on my car. As always, he knew exactly what to do and did a thorough job. -Daesun

Daesun,
Good to hear that your car is in good health again. Did you ever get the rear sunshade repaired? By the way, will you be able to make it to the Autowerks BBQ on Sunday? Hope so, would be nice to have a good showing of 500E/E500's.

Hey Daesun, what was the mileage on those rear shocks? Anything unusual that led to their deterioration?
Cheers,

placo1 - The part I needed for the rear sunshade just came in yesterday, so I'll probably get that taken care of early next week. I'll keep you posted. I wasn't aware of the BBQ. Can you provide any more details? I'd love to see some of the other 500s in the area.
Dean - The car itself has about 62k miles. The shocks were already bad when I bought the car at about 57k miles. I have no idea what might've led to their demise. Do you think the mileage is too low for normal wear and tear to be the culprit? -Daesun

Daesun,
The BBQ is Sunday morning from 8AM to 1PM in San Diego. Actually if you visit the Benzsport website you'll find the details in their gatherings and events section. It will cost $15.00 to get in and actually show your car, if you emailed in advance it would have costed only $3.00. Entrance fees do include food as well as a prize drawing. Email me if you need more details, I'll definitely be there and I'm hoping more MB Shop members can make it. Keep me posted about the rear sunshade.

placo1 - Guido fixed my sunshade a few days ago. No more clicking noises. The only part replaced (as far as I can tell) was the "roller blind". The part # is 124-810-30-20-9A88. You may want to consult Guido for further info.

Daesun,
Thanks for the information. I'll give Guido a call to determine how difficult it is and if I shoudl bring it to the dealer for the fix. Thanks again.
