Best Brake, sway bar, etc...setup on a 93 LE

Was thinking about getting another 190E, but wanted to do it right this time.

Was thinking, 93 Limited Edition which comes with the Sportline package:

But seriously, aren't the 95 E420 brakes up front better then the older 93 400E? When I did this conversion about 2 years back, Lee, they all advised a few months after my upgrade that a few owners had problems, and so the went to 95 E420 calipers. The extra 3mm in rotor width also helped with warpage issues.

Also, I haven't found anything bigger and nicer in the back then the SL 600s. But why not use say an E500 or SL600 caliper in the front, how much more involved is it?

Your really not going to have problems with the earlier 400E brakes or warpage. Remember the 190 is about 1000 lbs lighter than the 400E.

Your question about the 600sl brakes is best directed to Rick at RC Imports, as he is the only one I know of who has done that particular conversion. According to him its no problem, but I know both of those (500E, 600sl) have different spindals than the 190 which I would think cause major pains in putting the brakes on.

Why are you gonna get another 190e? Especially after you had yours all done up, pretty nicely if you ask me too. There's no way you would get back the money you put into your current 190, so why get another one to put all your money into? No offense, I'm just a little perplexed. The only thing you had left untouched was the motor and you had a pretty good plan of addressing that with the C36 motor and getrag tranny. I personally have followed your car and 2phast's car very closely as excellent models to mirror my car after. Hats off to the both of you for your efforts is customizing your cars.

The only reason is because I really like another members vehicle here. Its a 93 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6 Limited Edition. Funny thing is our family bought this exact car, which only 700 where produced. Unfortunately, as we left the dealer, a cement or garbage truck (can't remember) ran a red light and totalled it right there, the day we purchased it. A month later, we bought the other 190E new, and have owned it since. Every time someone even mentions the LE, I think back to how incredible the car looked.

Granted I wouldn't get much for my car, especially since I just hit 140k. I am thinking of keeping it in the family since I just rebuilt the engine (had lower valve seals and timing chain needed to be done, so just did everything which really only require replacing the gaskets since the heads were machined at 90k) and the exhaust has a few holes so I might replace that. Other then that, I was going to take the major expenses invested in my 190E and transfer it over to the LE.

The brakes and sway bars could stay, the system and its highs and mids could stay. The euros could stay. Smoked rears I'd take out. And whatever else I think of.

The car came with almost every option, including the sportline. I would probably use E420 brakes up front, and SL600s in the back. I currently have the SL600 in the back, and they bolted right on. They might be different spindles, but the pattern must be the same. Rick from RC-Imports is who I talk to extensivly (30 minute drive from DC) and where my car gets serviced many times as well.

I figured if I wanted to do something excuisite, why not start off with an exquisite car. The C36 conversion seems better fit for this car, then mine.

I would probably go Delsing sway bars now that I think about it, since I am going to go all out. Its just finances are tight, so I wanna do it right, or not even waste my time buying the car. SO I'm trying to buget things now, and consider every expense I will incurr. Just imagine the interior like this:

Planning 225/35/18s all around. I don't like the grille in that pictures, and would probably just keep the stock one and black it out. Different Exhaust.

So far, my budget is $4k short. Unless I sell something, I might just have to let it go.

We'll see. Number crunching gives me a headache, I'd rather just do wishful thinking.

190e Performance

This is what I am installing on my car:
1. 500e brakes/disc on all around with SS brake lines.
2. Bilstien Sport front shocks and Adjustable Spax Rear Shocks.
For springs I am converting the front to Coil-overs and using Intrax rear springs.
3. For the front sway bar I am having made a hollow 1-1/8" Front bar (28.57mm), weight is about 6 lbs.
I will make a rear sway bar but have not decided on the diameter yet, most likely 22mm. (I love oversteer!)

I hope to find someone who makes HD poly urethane or delrin bushing for the control arms. It is no fun making these.

I rode in an ex-office workers 190E 2.6 with a 5-speed manual transmission!

Was there really such a thing brought to the US?

He installed SportLine springs and shocks, and this baby could go.
