I was wondering what the stock sway bar thickness was on the following cars

2.3 8V
2.3 16V
2.5 16V
2.6 12V

anybody with this information, or any part thereof, please post as I am sure this will be very helpful to quite a few people...Myself in particular! Thank you in advance

So far I've found this much out

400E 26mm front
500E 27.5mm front
Evo II 18mm Rear

The 500E bar actually specs out (with a caliper) at 28mm

The AMG E60 front bar specs out at 29mm and its made from a denser material, much more rigid than the OE 500E bar, thats about all I know though, info on the E60 is hard to come by.

source: just now measured them with Mitutoyo digital calipers. I'm waiting for rental spring compressors to arrive so I can install H&R sport springs and Bilstein sport shocks -- that's why the sway bar is removed. Also installing new bushings which I just picked up today.

thanks a lot for the info guys! I dont know if this will help since you have a 16V, but I just changed my front springs about 3-4 days ago (bad memory) and I didnt need any kind of compressor for the fronts...I had installed my rears a while back and was just too scared to tackle the fronts without a compressor, but it went fairly smoothly. No compression at all once I removed the sway bar, disconnected my struts at the tower and lowered the arm.
