Actually if your going to put a Sub in your trunk I'd suggest the following.

1. Install the amp up underneath your rear deck, or directly onto the box if you want to prevent any drilling. You may also mount the amp under your rear seat as long as you know that amp will not be used near it's full capacity. You need to remember that adequate cooling is required if the amp is mounted upside down or underneath your seats so oversizing the amp would help.

2. Don't change the door speakers, just put caps on them so they only emit midbass.

3. Install Rainbow front speakers which go into the factory location without any mods and upgrade your Treble and midrange sound. LaJolla Audio has these speakers for about $120/Pair I believe.

4. In order for the Bass to really pass through your trunk you will need to port it, thats up to you to decide though.

is yours ported?
alon's is ...
i wonder if hi-power's is....hmmm

MUYAMAN 07-17-2002 03:58 PM

Sweet looking muffler! Is that the same arospeed model that Alon has? I am definitely seriously looking into that one. Did they have to do any bending to get it into place, or just saw and weld?

mushedroom 07-17-2002 04:08 PM

hey muya...did you talk your dad into the muffler?
the one i have is actually a little fatter in the tips and has an angled forward cut....
ashman and hi-power both have the thinner tips...and ashman has the straight cut..no angle forward.....

mushedroom 07-17-2002 04:09 PM

ashman has his muffler aligned flush with the bumper (so his sticks out a little more) his looks aggressively sporty...hi-power and i have ours aligned with the lower lines of the bottom of the bumper which angle down towards the tire...so they're a little more subtle...

MUYAMAN 07-17-2002 04:20 PM

Haven't talked him into letting me do it yet, but I have hope ;)

Need to get the rims on first. I had thought that my car had 15" 8-holes on them, but it turns out that they are 16's. Which means that the rim cash outlay is about $500, and I can slap the 2 month old Dunlop SP's on the new wheels without having to buy a new set. I think the wheels are pretty much a lock for this summer.

As for the muffler, it seems like a pretty easy thing to do to really make the car stand out for only 200 bucks. I like the mounting a little bit back like you have it, a little less in-your-face (although your's looks REALLY good too Alon, not a knock, just a personal preference on my part).

And I too am looking at fixing up the bass in my car, I think I'm going to give a shot to the mounting in the wheel well and removing the rear speakers to make a port. The sealed 12 I had in a box with no port into the cabin really had issues. I'm convinced that I blew my 100W/channel amp because I had the gain all the way up, and the bass boosted on the head unit just to get some sound into the cabin. Those trunks really are unbelievable in terms of their ability to seal in bass.

Keep me posted on your projects, I would love to hear how you guys are going about the sub approach. I'll try to keep you guys updated on what I'm doing, and pictures will be key in learning/explaining how you went about things. Thanks!

Mushedroom -- I gotta say, your lights are about as pimp as can be. What are the parts needed to do that, where did you get them, and about how much did it run you to have all of that done, if you don't mind my asking. Thanks!

mushedroom 07-18-2002 02:28 PM

hey jordan...

i got my tails from Ken over at Importvision.com....
he's the coolest...

as for price, he's the best priced out there...way way lower than anyone i've seen, and his product is good quality stuff....

the tails i bought were german made and spec tints....

but i got a good deal cause i did a whole package deal with tails, euro headlights, side markers and bulbs....
but call him and tell him i sent you and he'll hook ya up....

Ashman 07-18-2002 05:49 PM

Hi there.

Nice muffler!! I asked Ashman where he got his from about 6 weeks ago. He told me he got his from ebay - Thanks Ashman, Good tip. After thinking about it I went on ebay and bought the Arospeed (AMG Tip). Are they the ones you have? My question is simple. The muffler didn't come with any brakets - how do I fix it onto the car?

I've attached the only picture I have of mine at the moment, but once I've got the exhaust on, I'll post one of the back.

Kind regards,

mushedroom 09-17-2002 02:10 PM

hey neil,

no brackets...
when you take it to the muffler shop, they'll have all the hardware to do the install.
