I'm also waiting for my entrance into the Hot-Rod section, which will come once I load up the 190E with it's 3.0 engine. I hope this counts? It'll have 188bhp (euro, no cat) and weigh 1209Kg based on (optimistic?) quoted weight of a 190E 2.6 6-cyl. So that makes 155 bhp/tonne.

Strangely, a 2.5-16v is quoted at 1300Kg, is this because of the bodykit, LSD / SLS, and higher spec meaning extra weight?

I should compare okay to the Euro 2.5-16v's 157 bhp/tonne,
300SL-24's 136 bhp/tonne
500E's 192 bhp/tonne

Is US bhp/ton different? 1209Kg = 2665lb for what its worth.

later

Love the colour....nice and clean too. I think as long as you drive it like a Hot Rod then its cool. How close you to A-dam?

How do you plan to get 183 or 195hp from the OM603 engine? It only has 148hp stock, which is damn good for a non-intercooled 12-valve I-6 3.0L... 183 or 195 would likely melt the pistons. What engine mods do you have? The car looks great, though...

Hmmmm... then it must have a swapped engine? Mercedes didn't make the OM606 (the 24 valve) until 1995 or so. Back in 1989, there was only the OM603, which is 2-valves per cylinder. From the photos you show, I think you have the OM603... the OM606 looks a LOT different. Pull the valve cover and see for yourself. Or just look through the oil fill cap, if there is only one camshaft then it is the 12 valve engine (148hp). An intercooler is WAY cool if you have one! Where is it located? I have the same car, and there isn't much room...

BTW - a K&N won't give you any HP over a new paper filter. Other people have tested this, they just don't work on a Mercedes turbo diesel, they only let more dirt in. Try it, but I bet you find no difference in your 0-100kmh times or 1/4 mile times (or standing kilometer or whatever you use as a reference in Holland...)

Here's my ride (old photo, I now have 500E Euro lights...):

...I fairly certain that the first few posts of the Hot Rods Forum (in way the begining) have a common/ accepted description of what may be considered MB Hot Rods contained therein....

....'factory Hot Rods".... vs. "tuned/ modded"....

best regards and hope this helps
