Dyno Results - C-Coupe

Did you guys see these dyno results from just a $350 pulley from ASPRacing.com on a C230 Coupe. Wow, close to 30hp and 35# torque.

I dont think that those results are from a c230 coupe. Reason being because the intitial dyno showed a hp or 167, the coupe has close to 190. The results might be from a c240.

192HP is the factory rating at the crank for the Coupe (and SLK230), some put out more, some less . The dyno above is a chassis dyno so you have driveline losses from the drivetrain. It would be cost prohibitive to pull the engine out, intake, exhaust and set it up on an engine dyno. Some believe these numbers to be about a 15% loss for a manual trans car. So in theory a car that is 192HP at the crank would be 163 Rear Wheel Horsepower (RWHP) and I've seen as low as 159 rwhp to 176 rwhp from different Coupes on chassis dynos. So using the 15% drive train loss (more for an automatic), the 197 rwhp is really about 227 hp and the same goes for torque, the really more impressive improvement.

Not bad when you consider a $40,000+ BMW 330Ci coupe is less HP than that and way less torque.

Also, I see something about airbox on the top of the dyno sheet. That is an old trick to get an easy 6 hp. Just take the top of the air box off.

Just waiting for a high flow airfilter. K&N doesn't make one for the coupe but if there's 6hp to be made, wooohooo!

They do, get a Kleemann supercharger and the S/C pulley comes with it. Of course it will set you back about 10K installed.

For those with the C230K sedan and older SLK230Ks, ASP is now going to make a pulley for you guys because of all the requests from these forums. You can find Lee at www.ASPRacing.com.

Sorry, still nothing for the V6 cars.

The replacement pulley simply drives the existing supercharger at higher speed = more power. Sort of 'overclocking'.
If you don't have a supercharger, there's no pulley to replace and nothing to be driven at higher speed. In short, no you can't get a pulley for a C240.

It's not on their site as they are made to order. Call them and ask for Lee. It takes 4 weeks to make one. This pulley very similar to the Kleemann alloy pulley and is a less expensive alternative.
